Just that really. I’m sending DD. I feel that she will be safe in her school and they will do their best to accommodate as much of the curriculum as possible.

Yes, I'm happy with the schools measures. It's also a small, rural school so plenty of space.

elainesummers · 30/07/2020 15:02

Yes

oo0Tinkerbell0oo · 30/07/2020 15:02

My ds 15 has been desperate to go back to school, he's actually excited at this news and no way would i try to stop him. He at one point asked me to tell the school he couldn't cope home alone so he could go with me being a keyworker...Grin

Both of mine will be returning. Ds2 was back for the last part of term as he was in year 1. He was happy to be back, he'd missed school more than he wanted to admit! Ds1 was jealous. He's looking forward to seeing his school friends again.

hamstersarse · 30/07/2020 15:55

Counting down the days

vinoandbrie · 30/07/2020 15:55

Yes, of course.

labyrinthloafer · 30/07/2020 16:00

I'm 70:30 against at the moment, have discussed with the head.

Been through on other threads so I'll keep it brief, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't believe my kids will be ok and I may make different decisions for my different children.

IMO the guidance given to schools is pathetic, I think there'll be spread in schools, bubbles are meaningless nonsense and you may as well carry a rabbit's foot.

frustrationcentral · 30/07/2020 16:06

Yep, years 7 and 12 so both going into new schools/college. DS2 went back for the last few weeks of term and loved it. DS1 has had nothing to do since March and now NEEDS to get back into it

YouJustDoYou · 30/07/2020 16:08

Yes. The kids are mentally suffering, I'm bloody mentally suffering, we all need it.

RosieLemonade · 30/07/2020 16:21

@labyrinthloafer did you children go in at all during lockdown? At my school the bubbles didn’t mix under any circumstances. It does work.

TeacupDrama · 30/07/2020 16:22

yes my DD is 10 going into P7 (Y6) in Scotland can't wait to go back confirmed will be back fulltime in August it's the right decision, there was no evidence from Europe from countries where schools either never closed ( Sweden) or reopened in May Germany etc that any increase in cases wa slinked to schools none of the spikes anywhere have been related to schools so am happy thay are back and I think it should be a priority, and while schools are not childcare without children in school or in intermittently parents can't work and the economy needs to work otherwise they will be no money to deal with furthr spikes

Codexdivinchi · 30/07/2020 16:24

Already bought the uniforms so yes!

Yorkshiremummyof1 · 30/07/2020 16:25

Yes, DS will be going in to year 5 and he struggled with lockdown. Apart from it being mandatory anyway

frustrationcentral · 30/07/2020 16:33

@RosieLemonade , I think bubbles work until you had siblings into the mix.

SengaStrawberry · 30/07/2020 16:34

Yep. Prevalence estimated to be 1 in 18000 people with the virus now so I’m satisfied that as long as other measures remain in place outside schools and good hygiene is maintained the risk is low.

Yes they did.

September is not the same.

A 240 bubble is total bollocks. Anyone who believes it makes anything safer is kidding themselves.

39 in a class no distancing is also clearly unacceptable.

labyrinthloafer · 30/07/2020 16:36

Sorry type - 30 in a class!

SockYarn · 30/07/2020 16:37

Of course I am. Delighted that the plan in Scotland is for all kids back full time.

They've had far too much time away and need to be back, as much for mental health and wellbeing reasons as for educational ones.

MarshaBradyo · 30/07/2020 16:38

Yes

Mintjulia · 30/07/2020 16:46

Yes. Ds has already spent two weeks at holiday club and is much more cheerful.

BiBabbles · 30/07/2020 16:47

I'm not sure I could stop them at this point.

Ohsuchaperfectday · 30/07/2020 16:50

Yes I am.

I'm not looking forward to it. I'm dreading winter, we will just have to see what winter brings.
Hopefully our government understands pandemics more now and will lock down faster and more appropriately if necessary.

I can't wait see any other option.
What I would like however is some clarity on when we send dc to school, persistent cough all day seems rather sledge hammer to me
Will we be penalised if for instance, there is no temp but they seem like '' something is coming on ''??

That's my worry.
We could be living with you covid for a long time!

iamapixie · 30/07/2020 16:51

Absolutely.

Branleuse · 30/07/2020 16:51

Yes

MarshaBradyo · 30/07/2020 16:51

I hope they stick to it as they did for Scotland
