Clarke's incorrectly measured my dc feet.

Went to Clarke's yesterday to get my dc feet measured. Came out as size 1f and 9e. I was short on time so went back today to buy the shoes. Found a 1f but dc was saying it hurt. Staff came to check and said they were too small. Remeasured and came out as 2f! Other child remeasured as a 10f!

I asked the first person to write it down and still had the paper with it on so I wasn't mistaken.

I'm surprised they got it wrong with both children's sizes. They both had similar thickness socks on but not sure socks could add a whole size anyway.

Just thought I'd post this so people can double check their sizes if like me they measured then purchased shoes later.

I only live near to a Clarke's so that's my only option.

I know the measurement is just a guide, but I'm surprised the guide was so inaccurate less than 24 hours later and using the same device.

In reality it’s always “she’s a 3f, but we’ve only got 4es shall we try them? Oh they fit.”

Very true Grin

@Annabesque

Clarks make up the rules to suit them; if they haven't got the measured size in stock they'll try to flog you a pair in another size, just to make a sale. Plus I find it really patronising being lectured about my kids feet by a 16 year old weekend assistant who's been on a half day shoe fitting course!
I don't think that's fair. I'm around twice their age and know less about shoe fitting.

Oh, the joy of the independent - Pablowski, Geox, Ricosta, Agatha, Converse, Lelli Kelli and more that I can't remember - in black and colour - so adorable, I used to have shoe envy for my children's shoes! The assistant would always know whether to go up a size or down a size in a different brand. We always left with a pair of shoes, properly fitted, with a few months growing room at least and blissful comfort. Clothes get handed down in our house but shoes don't (well, almost never) and I've always budgeted the few extra quid to look after their feet properly.

I think that the iPad measuring has led to even more mistakes tbh

Shops that measure manually with the food measure are much better imo.

the measurement is a GUIDE just a GUIDE.

Every shoe fits differently. One is narrower on the toe than another, or round the ankle, or over the instep.

When our kids have had their feet measured, they then start trying on shoes, they may end up with 3 that fit, in 3 different sizes/widths.

And, one shops fitting/shoe sizes is different to anothers, because despite what you might think, it is not really standardised, any more than a size 12 is the same in every shop

Feet vary depending on:
heat
time of day
thickness of socks
how much walking you have done already
If you are feeling 100%
What shoes you have been wearing today.

and this
Get yourself to Shoe Zone that’s what I say
is laughable, they are full of crap shoes.

I used to like Brantano when we had one, as they had Hush Puppies, which suited dds feet

I use clarks shoes for Ds, but visit a local shoe place that stocks clarks and uses the old manual measurer.
No queues, no fuss, in and out in ten mins as Ds knows exactly what he wants.

aqnd love Geox, although they are pricey.
