Under 18s in hotels

I need to book a hotel room for my 17 year old dd.

Premier Inn no good as there isn’t one near where she’ll be.

Options are either Travelodge or Holiday Inn. It’s not clear from google if they’ll accept lone under 18s.

No phone numbers and I’ve messaged both via FB but no reply.

Anyone know please?

As far as I know you have to be 18 or over to stay alone in a hotel.

Although maybe some allow you if you’re 16 / 17. Not too sure tbh

Holiday Inn is ok?

Travelodge is 16 and up.

talkingkrustydoll · 29/07/2020 17:53

The holiday inn I stayed the last two days was over 18s only as I was trying to get a second room for my dd so we all had to cram into one.

duvetaddict · 29/07/2020 17:56

Depends which holiday inn, each has their own rules. Travelodge website says no under 18s alone.

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2020 17:56

How will they know how old she is? I’d just book as normal.

Can’t see an issue.

underneaththeash · 29/07/2020 18:03

Just book the holiday inn. Unless it specifically says no under 18s she’ll be fine.
@ talkingkrustydoll - most of them have interconnecting rooms. You just need to put 1 adult in each room if you’re booking online and then email hotel to ask for them to be interconnecting or adjacient. Our kids haven’t been in our room for years.

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2020 18:05

Actually (bored too) the Premier Inn specifically says 16 is ok to book a room.

netflixismysidehustle · 29/07/2020 18:13

Does anyone know if 2x 17 year olds can stay without an adult?

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2020 18:15

Yes they can

netflixismysidehustle · 29/07/2020 18:20

That's good news for my 17 yo. Smile

talkingkrustydoll · 29/07/2020 19:15

@underneaththeash I was on my own with three children 15, 12 and 10 so no way of putting an adult in another room. They only had doubles with a double pull out bed.

yeOldeTrout · 29/07/2020 19:54

we lied & said DD was 18. She was actually 6 weeks short of 18. No regrets. Travelodge.

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/07/2020 20:22

I'd prefer Travelodge as it's nearer to where she'll be and cheaper. But Holiday Inn would be ok too.

I'll just have to lie about her age, they don't ask for ID at check in do they?

OP posts:
talkingkrustydoll · 29/07/2020 20:47

Holiday inn didn't. I'd payed through hotels.com

yeOldeTrout · 29/07/2020 20:52

Not asked for ID in UK. DD went by self last August to a T-Lodge in midlands. I paid in advance & it all went smooth & easy.

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/07/2020 21:27

Thanks, do you think Holiday Inn would be 'safer' in terms of getting away with it over Travelodge?

OP posts:
teaandlotusbiscoff · 29/07/2020 23:27

IMO holiday in would be better. We were staying in a travelodge last week and DD (16) wanted her own room (apparently DH, DS and I snore Hmm) so we phoned hotel to book two rooms only to be told that U18s can’t stay in their own room!

bendmeoverbackwards · 30/07/2020 11:43

Holiday Inn was booked up after all that so have booked Travelodge. I booked it in my older dd's name (she's 19) just in case. Dd can take a copy of her older sister's birth certificate just in case they ask for ID!
