Can you mop a laminate floor?

I'm having laminate flooring put in tomorrow and as it isn't water resistant how can I clean it?

Can I still use a mop or could this cause it to bubble or warp? I wring out mops pretty well l, I don't like having a dripping wet mop.

A mop is the only cleaner I have at the moment, I have no steam cleaner.

FYI, the laminate is B & Q Goodhome Gladstone oak effect laminate incase anybody has the same and please let me know how you clean it.

Thanks

Yes absolutely fine, not sure a steam mop would be ok though!

I mop my laminate but the mop is very well squeezed out and I fill the bucket with boiling water from the kettle so it dries even quicker. However, unless I put an old towel down and shuffle it around inch by inch with my feet, it streaks. Anyhow 4 years on and it’s still fine, it was from a small independent flooring place but thought I’d would give you my experience.

Don’t get a steam cleaner, DSis ruined her laminate with a steam cleaner as that lifted it all.

Thanks for replies, I'll stick with the mop

Keep the mop very close to dry.

Laminate flooring, despite saying "splash proof", is basically MDF with a hard skin on the top. Any water that gets in the cracks can be absorbed which will swell up the MDF substrate, and it doesn't go back down after.

My laminate is 10 years old and looks brand new.

I usually use Astonish floor cleaner. It cleans well and leaves a fantastic shine. I sometimes mop it. I sometimes use a spray mop. I sometimes steam it, (just water) on the low setting.

I'm very happy with it.
