Best place to take kids under ten - anywhere between Birmingham and York

As above, really. Planning a bit of a looped road trip and got a few places on the list. The return drive home will see us pass between Birmingham and York. Not too fussed which route we take between them.

We could add in a nights stay too.

So....if you were planning a day out/experience for a 5yo and 8yo in this area, what would you want to do?

Would go to Splash Landings instead, only ~45 min drive from Stoke.

@SimplySteveRedux I was at the zoo last week - it hasn't deteriorated but there is work going on in places to improve enclosures etc. Really good at the moment with limited numbers.

Crocky Trail is good fun. A bit scruffy but great for the kids

National railway museum in York seconded, it's paradise for kids into things like Thomas the Tank Engine!

Hmm, I'm not sure I agree :) We were there last year, literally days before end of season and it just felt somewhat dated compared to when we were there three years ago. It's definitely still an awesome day out though.

Conkers is good. Its at Swadlincote which is on Derbyshire border. Its easy accessible from m42 M1. Its like an outdoor ish activity place for younger kids.

Twycross zoo is in that area too.
