Hi all, going around in circles - Im trying to get someone to add products to our website & every ad I just get a million social media & marketing people & no one with experience! They need experience cause the products are complicated (multiple options etc & you need to be good on spreadsheets).

So what is the job title of a person who adds a product to an ecommerce type site using the online software (Magento, shopify that kind of thing). They need
To use photoshop for editing images
To write nice descriptions
To do prices for lots of options & variants
To fill in all the parts the software has eg products that are similar, colours for the filters etc.
To update prices & options using spreadsheet & on the site

Its not a website administrator role because theres no programming

Its not website content manager because its much more than writing descriptions.

Really stuck on this!!!!

Retail website content manager. Explain exactly what's necessary though. I've done it and it's pretty dull.

Have you thought about using a recruiter? I've always found work through a recruiter instead of applying for jobs iyswim.

Vodkacranberryplease · 28/07/2020 14:28

DrDreReturns Ive had recruiters send me CVs but TBH they are all as random as the applications.

Its on Linked In at the moment but people applying for jobs with no experience (even though Ive asked them not to) is pretty time consuming. Ive got a ton of stuff to do & this is almost a full time job - recruiter or not.

If only people were truthful in screening questions. I cant train, its too complex & I havent got time to spend the next 3 months doing so. They cant learn on their own or read a book or watch a video. They need to be London based & come in. I cant ignore those two things as they are crucial. I wouldnt ask for that experience if I didnt need it, & to be in the office if it wasnt 100% needed.

If youre not highly proficient in excel already you will struggle. If you dont know everything about adding products to website you will struggle. And I will be paying you to do so, while also not having the things I need done - which directly impacts on my orther staff, & on the business.

Ive had whole weeks wasted while a very nice girl who works at home & almost knows the products but not quite did & re did the same piece of work & its not until my other staff get complaints from customers about x 'not being mentioned on the website' I even know that shes pretty much not done it accurately.

Now I have to fix it. Myself. And I lost three weeks of her time, and had to pay her.

So there you go. Some things are harder than they look - but I think Ill split this into two, one more marketing/content/social media & one more nitty gritty. The only problem then is will it be a full time role once we have caught up? Id prefer to have someone integrated into the business who can perform different roles & be paid properly instead of hiring people for short periods/part time.
