What hobbies do you do at home?

Life has been feeling quite boring and same old for a while now. I work part time (from home now and likely permanently going forward). When I'm not working I'm cleaning, cooking or looking after our daughter.

I love family life and enjoy spending time with my dp however I don't really have anything that's just mine, no hobbies or passions. No friends either really Blush

So I'd be interested to hear what you're passionate about and what hobbies you do from home to give me inspiration!

It's hard isn't it.

I've started reading again, following a lot of the threads in the reading section here and reading much wider than before.

Also the garden. It was basically a jungle and I've started doing half an hour a day minimum and am loving it now I'm making progress. Very basic, some veg, lots of easy plants but it's looking so nice.

Walking, aiming for that 10000 steps a day keeps me focused.

I play a multiplayer game online, I’m quite decent at it and help others in high level missions. Just did two six people raids this morning and beat our clan record. Love offering help and hearing the shock that it’s a woman, online gaming is a real bastion of misogynist BS.

I also sew and make costumes and have made Eva foam armour for cosplay. Have made one complete outfit from the game I play it took at least 60 hours to make probably longer. So that involves making your own patterns, sewing, using a heat gun, a glue gun and papier-mâché. Making the armour is the hardest part. There are lots of Eva foam tutorials on you tube. Have made props for theatre productions in the past. I like looking at objects and seeing how I can change them in to something else.

I love to crochet. I joined a crochet group pre covid and found it so easy going and relaxing. But even without the group its nice to sit in the evenings when the baby is in bed and make something. I am self and youtube taught. It's not hard to pick up

Exercise. I was using the gym and pool a bit before lockdown but have started from scratch and gradually built up a workout, I’m using other things like YouTube (and a boxing game on the Switch). I can’t do much because of health issues but it’s been amazing for me. I never thought I’d be anxiously waiting for dumbbells to come back into stock Hmm:o

I am reading a lot more - trying to get through my backlog of kindle books. Mixing it up between easy fiction, the odd classic and some non fiction.

I’ve signed up to FutureLearn and I’m doing various courses on there - it’s just a nice way of learning some new things, but with just enough pressure (as you only get a certain number of weeks to access the course) to keep me motivated.

Started learning Latin yesterday :o and just had an email about audible courses so I may use one of my credits on those (it’s like a series of lectures but they have other resources apparently).

I’m trying to do more drawing too but confidence is a major issue at the moment.

Does decluttering count as a hobby? I have managed some of that, but again need to do more.

Crochet here too. I learned using Attic24 tutorials and YouTube. It took me a few weeks but then I was away. I can only make blankets though but lots of different patterns!
