I cancelled my holiday at 2am and now I regret it

Booked a train ticket to south of france for last week of August months and months ago - camping, in a rural area.

I am moving house at some point this month, got a bit nervy about travel, spain quarantine, the virus, wearing a face mask for 6 hours on the train. Hit 'request e voucher' at 2am and now feel really sad. It was going to be my way to recharge for 5 days.

Should I call euro star and beg to cancel my cancellation, or do you think I made the right choice?

Thanks all.

@janek good to know the vouchers are processed quickly.

I think once I rebook it I'll feel less hard done by!

@tmh88 can I ask why you'd prefer to cancel your Oct visit?
Are you not tempted to stick it out?

what is the situation re travel insurance OP? can you still get it?

waytheleaveswork · 26/07/2020 13:51

@serin you can get travel insurance, but it doesn't cover COVID illness/cancellation

I'm travelling alone so no younger people to worry about

@waytheleaveswork mainly because I have been made redundant so would prefer the money now if I can’t go. If that makes sense!

Noextremes2017 · 26/07/2020 13:58

It is all a bit difficult when there are a bunch of brainless knobheads running the country who have not got a clue what they are doing.
Planning 3 weeks in France in September but will book very late to see what other brainless directives are ordered by Johnson, Raab and fellow morons in the meantime.

Ah that's shit, sorry @tmh88

Holidays really are not important in the grand scheme of things. Think it's a combination of late night/ hangover/ wanting a mope about missing out on 6000 croissants.

very true @noextremes2017. Hard to make sensible decisions that balance risk and the need for a normal life, when you know the people up top are bloody useless.

OP I live in Spain, from what they are saying here, right now, you made a wise move.

AuditAngel · 26/07/2020 16:34

I was supposed to be going to Spain on Friday, DH can’t quarantine due to work, but I was still going with the kids, taking nephew with me and DD1 staying on with SIL.

She’s still planning on going, doesn’t want me to push flights back. I won’t go with FCO warning. It’s going to be a nightmare to sort
