Financial statement, monthly outgoings, what does this form really mean!

Hi, I’m filling in one of these forms in the thread title for my divorce finances hearing.
I’m probably being stupid, or my brain is just scrambled from all the stress but what is the purpose of this form: Form E financial statement?

I have filled it in with answers I can only hope are acceptable. I have my outgoing at £1,579 and my incomings (without CM) at £1,502.
Is this a good thing? It means I guess I can afford the house on my own with nothing left over. I also have dd full time at the mo (since December) h has no contact. CM is only £160 ( ridiculous considering his salary, but he is self employed and lying and £160 is better then £0)

It means that you are £77 short every month.

With CM I’m ok but not relying on that because I believe he will stop. I can up my hours when she starts school so I will be ok (I hope. How will a judge look at this?

I haven’t helped with one of those from but I volunteer with a charity doing debt advice. So whilst I can’t help with specifics, are you sure your figures are accurate and reasonable and you haven’t missed any expenses off?
I’ve seen a lot of financial statements and there is often something forgotten (occasional expenses like paying tv license yearly is one example) or under estimated.

You don’t be the first person whose outgoings exceed income.

It’s for your ex to raise any issues/objections/questions regarding your Form E.

Are you seeking spousal maintenance?

Fightingback16 · 25/07/2020 14:24

My solicitor sent me a statement to fill in, about 4x pages of expense. I’ve filled it all in but some things I haven’t a clue really what to put down.

@GreenCoxing I don’t really know if I’m seeking spousal maintenance. I don’t think he earns enough for that, I believe he earns £35,000 annual ish. I have a credit card debt which I put £100 towards so when that’s gone I’ll be just under.

@Fightingback16 I ask because that’s when monthly expenses tend to be gone through more.

Your situation is totally normally. In fact shortfalls are often a lot more. Your Form E is meant to reflect normal expenses. So sometimes where you have a split, one spouse has no income (and often high outgoings) so they will be saying they are thousands of pounds short a month (and then often going for maintenance pending suit).

Honestly, don’t worry about it. Send to your solicitors.

I don’t want to rely on my husband whatsoever, he was an abusive monster. I don’t want maintenance from him if I can absolutely help it, I would rather transfer the house and then have a clean break.

I have reduced the amount I put down from how we lived a as family. We had more holidays but I only budgeted for one at £300. Am I right to reduce or should I be putting down how we did live? The expenses would be much higher then my income then!

I also budgeted for our dd full time because at the moment, until he applies for court contact he has none.
