How much roughly for school trips for primary age child a year?

Really depends on the school and how many trips they do. I can't remember ds's school being excessive and trips rarely more than 1-2 a year and always

Pertella · 25/07/2020 12:39

Per trip or total for all trips?

At primary I wouldn't expect to pay more that £15/20 for a day trip and no mote than 1 every term.

At DS school we paid £10 for a trip to the local zoo.

Our school asks for a set contribution per child of £20 per child, which covers all trips and visits. They also publish an “actual” cost so that those who can afford to do so pay the true cost.

How long is a piece of string. DDs last school had use of their school buses as and when they needed... Trip costs were minimal, with many free
They went multiple times each year.

Current school... They did special one off fundraising to get the costs down to £12 per child. Other child didn't go on a trip, but there might have been one planned for summer term which never happened.

It’s for my form e. I only have one child going into reception and no idea of how much a year it would cost on average.

DD1 has just finished year 1 and has only had one proper school trip which was to panto and paid for by the PTA. Oh they also did a walk to the local aero park but that was free. So nothing so far for us.
It’ll entirely depend on the school I imagine.

We have a couple £1-£5 (or free), a Christmas trip that’s about £10 and some years another £10-£15 one eg zoo or aquarium.

Then Year 6 is about £300.

Fightingback16 · 25/07/2020 13:03

About £30 a year?

Varies between 10-40 quid a year. sometimes it's subsidised by the PPG of course then you have to pay for wear your own clothes/ wear a onesie/ wear a christmas jumper to school days as welll as provide baking as they try to raise funds. It's easier just to pay for the trip tbh :)

In school nursery they had a fund where all the kids paid in one pound a week to cover extra art stuff, kids gardening equipment and outings. I'd quite like that in primary school. Don't know if standardising a parental contribution would cause a further divide between the haves and the have nots though.
