40th celebrations for one...help!!

So I’m a few week off turning 40 and while I’m still having a few mournful moments for my passing 30’s I’ve kinda got my head around it and not too fussed about the age side of things...

However...

My husband (who is amazing) is not only away for it (military) but isn’t particularly imaginative When it comes to birthdays and while I’m sure I’ll have a lovely prezzie and a nice meal cooked for me while I’m back if I want to make it a special day to remember I’m going to have to do it myself.

I have 3dc, (my family and in-laws live very far away) and we are quite rural and obviously with things the way they are we are quite limited in what we can do.

How can I celebrate the day and stop myself moping and ending up feeling sorry for myself, and treat myself and 3dc?

Can you get to the seaside? Would you go out for lunch with the DC? Have you got a happy place you could get to and have a picnic? Would you want a friend to organise a bday zoom type thing?
Happy birthday, keep the celebrations going for the year I think.

Lunch is a possibility, I don’t drive but we have a few nice country pubs around us.

I also thought about seeing if I could order a nice meal in!

Zoom possibly, we quite often do family quizzes to bridge the distance but also all said that it’s quite an awkward way to just chat...

Why celebrate alone with the kids, might be more fun to get together with some friends / friends with kids and have a meal together, drinks or seaside trip.

Possibly...due to being a military family, we are very transient and I wouldn’t say I have a group of close friends that would want to go out of their way to celebrate a birthday with me, although I do really like some of my DC friends parents...

I had kinda came around to the likelihood that it would just be me and DC celebrating, they are 14, 12 and 7 so not baby’s.

Happy Birthday!

I think you need to treat yourself for this!

If weather is good order in some lovely grub from your favourite place. Kids get to order what they want too. Have a picnic in the garden so you can run back inside when it eventually pours down out of the heavens. Ask around if anyone is free to join you on the day, but don't fret if they cannot attend. Neighbours might drop in for a while too maybe?

Get a little cake and fill it with candles the kids will love it.

Sing happy birthday and have a fabulous day. We are all quite confined in what we can do now, so enjoy it best you can.

Aww thanks, that’s very kind, just plotting what present I can treat myself too!!
