Airfryers

Hi, anyone got one? And if so what do you cook in it and do you use it a lot?
I know you can do chips and sausages etc and I know you can’t do wet things like batter.
I always get put off a recipe if it requires deep frying as I’m scared of a fat fire and general spitting of boiling oil etc.

Following as I keep looking at them :)

Honestly I use mine most days, chips, onion rings, spring rolls, nuggets and chicken bits for the kids. Hash browns, waffles, wraps.. pretty much anything I can fit in it goes in! It’s so much easier because you don’t have to wait for it to heat up like and oven and it’s easy to clean. I find it cooks things much quicker and makes the best chips, I’ll never go without one now!

Love mine too! Perfect roast potatoes for Sunday lunch. Mine was just a supermarket one for about £40

Thank you already!
Tell me more about what you mean by wraps @Teacaketotty
How about things that are soft but not wet Like batter and get their structural integrity from deep frying. Things like falafel or fried breads?

I got one about a month ago and we love it and use it a lot. Most things that I’d have put in the oven before now go in the air fryer. Sausages, chips, chicken, quiche, pork chops, fish, halloumi, roast new potatoes, corn on the cob, stuffed peppers....You can put a casserole in mine, or a cottage/fish pie for instance.

Thinkle · 24/07/2020 12:43

To clarify, I know what a wrap is but why would you air fry one?

I used mine for things like chips, onion rings, tofu but then came a revelation in the form of a Facebook group called ‘Indian airfryer recipes’ and am making more dishes like pakoras and samosas in the airfryer.

As a bonus, it’s great for reheating one or two slices of pizza at a time when you get a takeaway and the slices cool down. Oh and fabulous garlic bread using part-baked bread.

MyPersona · 24/07/2020 12:43

Things like falafel or fried breads?

Yes. And toasted sandwiches.

Thinkle · 24/07/2020 12:44

Casserole? What model do you have @MyPersona?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 24/07/2020 12:45

We have one. Cook chips, mini pizzas, reheat things, toasties... Pretty much anything that will fit.

Thinkle · 24/07/2020 12:46

I can’t keep up!
@Nydj Indian airfryer recipes is exactly what I am looking for! Will have a look now. Thank you

@Thinkle

Casserole? What model do you have *@MyPersona*?
I have a Ninja with air fry, roast, reheat and dehydrate settings. On roast the temperature can be set as low as 120.
Teacaketotty · 24/07/2020 13:30

Pop some chicken, salad, cheese and garlic sauce in a wrap - in the air fryer for 5 mins, nice and toasted with melted cheese, if you haven’t tried it you need to!

Mines isn’t one for runny batter etc as it has holes at the bottom, if was something dipped in egg then breadcrumbs that would work. It’s trial and error I think!

I'm sold. Exciting. Will probably use more than the instant pot tbh.

lakesidesummer · 24/07/2020 17:45

I don't use mine that much to be honest.
But it does nice southern fried chicken and obviously chips.
I obviously need to broaden what I use it for.

I've heard you can get a special lid for the instant pot that turns it into an air fryer

Update:
Our Ninja Airfryer Max AF160 is arriving today... if it arrives in time for a family meal I’ll make some pan puri in it.

Oh I hope you enjoy it! I’m not a fan of the pani in pani puri - but do enjoy the puris cooked in the airfryer with potatoes, chickpeas, tamarind chutney and yogurt etc.
