How old to sit in a toddler trolly seat?

DH has gone back to work so I'm going to have to do the food shop with DS.
He's 8 months, he can sit fine in his high chair etc. He can only sit on the floor completely unaided for a couple of minutes before he topples over. I'm not sure if he'd be ok in the trolly seat. He wouldn't lie back in the baby seat, he's too nosy and he'd get upset. I hat age did everyone else start using it? I'd obviously clean the trolly all around where he would be sitting etc. I just can't carry him for long enough to put him in a sling and if I'm pushing his buggy I won't be able to buy much.

I started using them at about 5 months, or just use the bottom of the buggy for extra stuff, no ones ever accused me of stealing and I've done it for years now.

About 6/7 months, once they can sit up fine. Maybe pad out the surrounding part of the seat with a jacket or sweater? I found shopping with a baby in a sling a nightmare, every time I bent down for something the baby was jostled about. Trolley much easier to manage!

Thank you. There's always blankets and jackets loitering about in the car so I can get him comfy. It's just been so long since I've actually seen a baby in a trolly that I couldn't really remember. He's a big baby so definitely big enough I just wasn't sure about his sitting capability. You've all reassured me though.

I put DD in the trolley seat at around 6 months. Not sure if I'm going to explain this properly but here goes... she would sometimes tip to one side or the other so I would push her with my hands holding the backrest of the seat and my arms either side supporting her when she needed it
