Do you let your kids sleep in onsies with hoods?

Just that really.
Have just realised all my kids' ones have hoods.

No. DD sleeps in fleecy onesies as she is too wriggly for a quilt. But my lovely mum cuts the hoods off them and hems them - so she can sleep in them safely. DD has special needs and can twist herself into the most amazing positions and chews everything so we are probably over-cautious though.

Yes, I think from about age 3 in the fleecy ones, whenever they grew out of the cotton baby/toddler ones. They still have them now and the eldest is off to secondary this year. We do have a chilly house in winter though.

No - pretty sure your not meant to - not sure where I saw that though

SexTrainGlue · 23/07/2020 09:19

Yes

They're teenagers, if that's relevant

Lockdownfatigue · 23/07/2020 09:24

Yes I do. Youngest is 4

NameXForThis · 23/07/2020 09:29

No, I wouldn't as I don't think it is safe. I specifically found onesies for my very tall 4 year old without any hoods.
I have never let mine sleep or nap in tops with hoods either, not worth the strangulation or suffocation risk.

Yellredder · 23/07/2020 09:36

Mine won't wear a onesie nowadays, but I wouldn't want her to sleep in one with a hood. She's nine.

shellysheridan · 23/07/2020 09:38

No. My boys get very hot and would overheat.

Mamimawr · 23/07/2020 09:39

10 and 12 year old do sleep in them, I don't let my 6 year old.

Torvi · 23/07/2020 09:43

A while ago it was in the news that a child almost died because the zip on the onesie ruckled up to her throat and was choking her. So I wouldn't let my younger children sleep in one with a zip, let alone a hood.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/07/2020 09:55

No, for over heating reasons. But I also don't think they're safe.

StandardLampski · 24/07/2020 09:22

I dont, by the way.
Wondered If I was overly cautious but it appears not!
Restless sleeper, 3, wont keep a sleeping bag or quilt or blankets on, wakes up cold.

But Wakes up, whichbis the important bit!

Nope! My partner or DC to bed with one with a hood and it freaked me out when I realised. Why does a 2YO need a hooded onesie anyway? I don't understand why they make them with hoods

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/07/2020 09:25

No I didn’t, it doesn’t look comfortable or safe.

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/07/2020 09:45

I also don’t get why onesies for young children have hoods. It’s not like they’re going out in the rain in them.

KenAdams · 24/07/2020 09:48

No and if it has a zip it's unzipped quite far down

InvincibleInvisibility · 24/07/2020 09:54

I had/have 2 wriggly sleepers who throw off the covers at first then get cold and call mummy....

Both started pulling their own duvets back on them aged 4/5. Until then I went in. (Yup Im seriously sleep deprived).

Doing it again I would possibly do long pjs, maybe a vest and socks with everything tucked in and hope that is enough. I would never let them sleep in onesies for fear of overheating.
