DS has just started venturing into town with his friends and he’s been on a couple of local bike rides with them too. It feels so odd to just be sat at home waiting for the phone call for a lift when last summer I was rushed off my feet keeping him entertained. I think because of lockdown we’ve had no gradual build up either but I’m very conscious that in 5 weeks time he’ll be navigating secondary school so I’m keen for him to gain some independence and confidence.

Not as much as I'd like unfortunately. We were planning on practising getting the bus, but the timetables are a bit funny at the moment and the school ones aren't available so need to wait until we know what stop he'll need. He's been going to the local park with his younger sister, none of his friends have been there though, they don't seem to go out much. I want to try him going to the shops next, though a bit wary due to the restrictions, but he's pretty sensible and happy to wear his mask so should be OK. Town is a bit too far for him to get to yet. I'll be interested to see what others are doing too!

My DD walked 10 mind to and from school since Jan then Covid hit so she only had 5 weeks when she went back.. Goes to local shop and library, has been to the playground with a friend . Her phone has a Find my kids tracker on it. She has has to be home at a certain time. Its about trusting that she sensible when being out.. I count the minutes down if I'm honest and I hate it, but it has to be done. I will not walk her to secondary!!
