I fancy a new cookbook. Which would you recommend please?

My cookbooks of choice are from Rachel Khoo, Jamie Oliver, Tessa Kiros and Nigella Lawson, but I'm fancying discovering someone new.

I meal plan and like to put two or three new recipes in amongst the regular stir fries and bolognese. I like big flavours and interesting ingredients you can find in any town. I love one pot or one tray cooking in the main, particularly if it's prep to table in an hour.

Which would you recommend please?

Diana Henry's books are good - I have her chicken one. From the Oven to the Table or Simple might fit the bill.

I have also cooked a lot from Jamie and Nigella - my other go to is nigel Slater, particularly the first 'Kitchen Diaries'. I've cooked quite a lot from both recently too.

Should say 'Bosh'...

Tom Kerridge has some lovely recipes.

If you like big flavours in one tray, you need the roasting tin books by Rukmini Iyer!

Fabulous recipes, and full of the sort of stuff we'd never thought of trying before.

Harinboat · 22/07/2020 17:48

Melissa Clark’s ‘Dinner’ many many good recipes!

RobynNora · 22/07/2020 17:52

I'm currently loving Sabrina Ghayour (everyday Middle Eastern recipes). All are excellent, but Sirocco is probably my favourite.

TeeBee · 22/07/2020 17:54

I came on to say Diana Henry too. Fabulous recipes.

formerbabe · 22/07/2020 17:55

Nigel Slaters books are fab.

pastapestoparmesan · 22/07/2020 17:57

I also recommend the roasting tin books, 100% my favourite kind of cooking.

cretelover · 22/07/2020 17:58

Rachel Allen has a lot of quick but tasty meals

villamariavintrapp · 22/07/2020 17:59

Yup has to be the roasting tin books!

BridgeFarmKefir · 22/07/2020 18:01

Another vote for the Roasting Tin books. I also love Meera Sodha's books. Her latest, East, is full of delicious veggie/ vegan recipes from all over Asia. Most importantly I've not had a recipe fail me yet!

WilmaJean · 22/07/2020 18:06

Diana Henry definitely!

myrtleWilson · 22/07/2020 18:52

Diana Henry, Rachel Roddy and Meera Sodha all very good, plus Claudia Roden is an awesome cookery writer - am re-buying her Jewish food book tomorrow as it is such a classic!

HelenaJustina · 22/07/2020 18:54

Roasting Tin books, they are brilliant.

TheHighestSardine · 22/07/2020 19:05

Hah! Came to suggest Bosh! and the roasting tin books, both well covered.

Further afield, how about Jerusalem by Ottolenghi? Lamb and cinnamon biased, but if you like that it's full of amazing stuff.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 22/07/2020 19:06

Another vote for the toasting tin books ...

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 22/07/2020 19:07

roasting, even ...

tittysprinkles · 22/07/2020 19:15

The happy salad cookbook by Leon is great, all the recipes work brilliantly.

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat by Samin Nosrat.

waltzingparrot · 22/07/2020 19:39

Thank you, The roasting tin ones look lovely and right up my street.

I always watch Nigel Slater, but never make anything even though it all looks lovely - don't know why that is. Actually, I think he puts me off when he takes five minutes plucking the individual leaves of a sprig of thyme and places them oh so precisely. I do know l don't have to do that bit Grin

Another Diana Henry fan. Never had anything of hers that isn’t delicious.

waltzingparrot · 22/07/2020 20:19

I've just reserved an e-book of the Roasting Tin from my library. I'll try a few recipes and if I love them, I'll buy my own copy. Although I use Pinterest a lot for recipes, I prefer a physical book.

I'm also checking out all the other suggestions on Amazon. Thank you so much everyone.
