Breastfeeding tops

Highly thrilling topic! Does anyone have recommendations for good basic nursing tanks or T-shirt’s? I ended up with quite bad spots/rash on my chest from pregnancy and have some marks and scars that I don’t want to display too much, so want to avoid strappy tank tops.

Thanks!

I found most of the specific bf tops were a bit annoying with flappy bits everywhere that just got in the way. The one up, one down method with a vest top under a normal top worked best for me.

So maybe wear a normal vest - pop boob out over/under and have a bigger t shirt over it?

I breastfed ds for years and am currently breastfeeding dd. I have never owned a single nursing top.

If you are on Facebook, look up the can I breastfeed in it page (cibii). Full of feeding mums sharing their latest high street purchases that are feeeing friendly.

Vest top underneath, larger top over. Pull down vest, pull up top.
I've fed two for extended periods, this is definitely easiest way.

Yep, exactly this. Pull down vest under boob and lift top tshirt. Minimal exposure of stomach which was always what concerned me more than anything else!

Totally agree with pp. Longline h&m vests with thin straps under, pull down under bra then pull tshirt or top up as much as you need.
Much easier than faffing with a flappy nursing top and less expensive.

You just get good at spotting clothes which look like the neckline is stretchy/have buttons down the front that look like they might really open/are loose enough to lift up, IME.

Breastfeeding specific clothing is often quite weird looking and uncomfortable. It's useful if it's included in a maternity top though IME and I did have a few like that, because there's definitely a while where you can still wear the maternity clothes.

Yep longline vests and one up one down. Means your normal wardrobe is wearable.

Have a look at the Facebook group "can I breastfeed in it" .

I also used one up one down method.

If you want some proper BF tops have a look on Ebay as there will be some hardly used much cheaper than new. Jojo Maman Bebe or Blooming Marvellous are some brands to look for

I’ve loved and got a lot of use of all my breastfeeding tops from seraphine.

ACatCalledLola · 20/07/2020 23:00

B Shirts are fantastic. I love the fit so much that I’ve worn them even when my children have dropped down to night feeds.

humanz · 20/07/2020 23:00

I honestly wouldn't waste your money Grin one up one down is perfect and invest in some good nursing bras (now these ARE important)

MyCatReallyIsAGit · 20/07/2020 23:06

H&M do some good nursing tops which have a panel behind the v neck, if that makes sense. They’re easy to feed in and not fiddly. They come in a twin pack usually.

Crabbo · 20/07/2020 23:10

Definitely one up one down, then you can wear whatever top you like as the top one. Most breastfeeding specific clothes are needlessly complicated and flappy and also look really like breastfeeding tops.

Irre247 · 20/07/2020 23:10

I do one up one down a lot with some cheap primark strappy vests- but I do get hot in warmer weather. I’ve got a b shirt and a friugi bloom vest which are both ok, I’d prefer a looser fit material though- they’d be good if I wasn’t still stuffing my face and not lost any baby weight Blush

I prefer not to have my chest/shoulders exposed so in warm weather just wear a normal t shirt and pull it up- baby covers my belly!

ArdoCycle · 21/07/2020 16:28

Thanks! Will just get some tank tops I think. I’m eating so much now I’ll be bigger than I was when I was pregnant, so I have some definite modesty requirements!
