Ok folks here we go again!

Post a few lines of lyrics & let the rest of us have a go at guessing the song & artist.
Songs from 70s, 80s 90s.

OP posts:
KatherineJaneway · 23/07/2020 10:38

So I hear that as Martha Reeves No Where To Run but assume someone must have co errd / sampled it

KatherineJaneway · 23/07/2020 10:38

Covered it even

CoffeeBeansGalore · 23/07/2020 10:45

@KatherineJaneway Correct. A version was done in 1971, then The Commitments covered it in 1992

Morning pop pickers! Here's a few to keep you busy... bonus points also for getting the (obvious) theme...

60s
I'm not the only soul who's accused of hit and run,
Tire tracks all across your back, uh-huh, I can see you had your fun.

70s
Oh baby let's take life's highway

80s
There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's alright, baby, it's all right

Another 80s
I see you walking real slow
Smiling at everyone
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong

90s
Got the hollow points for the snitches
So would you just walk on by, 'cause I'm too hard to lift
And no this ain't Aerosmith

KatherineJaneway · 23/07/2020 11:04

I see you walking real slow
Smiling at everyone
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong

Don Henley Boys of Summer

xsquared · 23/07/2020 11:04

Another 80s
I see you walking real slow
Smiling at everyone
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong

Is that Boys of Summer by Don Henley?

ThatLibraryMiss · 23/07/2020 11:05

@NeedToKnow101

Oh baby let's take life's highway
Automatically Sunshine, dunno artist

I see you walking real slow
The Boys of Summer, Don Henley

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/07/2020 11:39

@NeedToKnow101 - your 60s one is Jimi Hendrix, Crosstown Traffic (DH is a big fan)

VictoriousSockPuppet · 23/07/2020 12:03

@CoffeeBeansGalore

Morning all

@VictoriousSockPuppet Thank you 😊.

This of mine still outstanding:

It's not love, I'm a running from
It's the heartbreak I know will come
'Cause I know you're no good for me,
but you've become a part of me
Ev'rywhere I go, your face I see,
ev'ry step I take, you take with me yeah

And a new easy one:

A fraction of a second and the elements were made
The bipeds stood up straight, the dinosaurs all met their fate
They tried to leap but they were late
And they all died (they froze their asses off)

Is the second one walk the dinosaur?
VictoriousSockPuppet · 23/07/2020 12:04

Needtoknow the 3rd (80s) one is road to nowhere, talking heads

VictoriousSockPuppet · 23/07/2020 12:08
@VictoriousSockPuppet

This one of mine is still outstanding.

90s:
Take a left down echo park, a kid asks do I want some crack
T.V. sets are spewing Baywatch through the windows into black
It took me a while to sing this. Knew I knew it. It's the eels, isnt it? Love this album. (Going over to) Susan's house

VictoriousSockPuppet · 23/07/2020 12:15

Needtoknow is the last on dr dre? Let me ride.

And your theme is cars/trafffic/roads.

So on the same theme:

80s
I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I wanna take shelter from the poison rain

VictoriousSockPuppet · 23/07/2020 12:19

@VictoriousSockPuppet

Raise your arms up into the air Now shake 'em 80s
No one got this one. It was only yesterday, but was about 12 pages ago.

80s.
VERY distinctive singer.
Used in a film that was considered quite the racy thing, bit if I imagine the plot as a MN post in relationships, it would not be a thread that goes well

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/07/2020 12:20

That’s it @ProseccoBubbleFantasies! 🌟 Yes, it’s such a good album. I drove DH up the wall with those lines last night. I kept repeating them and he knew he knew it but just couldn’t get it!

Can’t believe I missed Road to Nowhere. I‘ve guessed hardly anything for pages now. Even songs like that one that I know really well.

@KatherineJaneway correct! ..my favourite summer song ever..Smile

@ThatLibraryMiss - Yes. Automatically Sunshine; it's by the Supremes, a supremly under-rated and under-played song IMO.

@SingingBabooshkaBadly - yes! the amazing Jimi Hendrix.

@VictoriousSockPuppet - well done for Road to Nowhere and also Dr Dre - let me ride. And yes to the theme. Grin

NeedToKnow101 · 23/07/2020 12:50

and correct @xsquared too.

@SingingBabooshkaBadly - 'Can’t believe I missed Road to Nowhere. I‘ve guessed hardly anything for pages now. Even songs like that one that I know really well.'

I'm exactly the same. I miss so many songs that i know really well.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 23/07/2020 13:27

@VictoriousSockPuppet Leave your hat on - used in The Full Monty?

OP posts:
CoffeeBeansGalore · 23/07/2020 13:29

Not Walk the dinosaur. I honestly thought it would be recognised in minutes!

This is the first verse:

Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started, wait
The earth began to cool, the autotrophs began to drool
Neanderthals developed tools
We built a wall (we built the pyramids)
Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries . . .

OP posts:
Iggi999 · 23/07/2020 13:34

It's the bare naked ladies, Big Bang theory (and obviously theme to the tv show)

CoffeeBeansGalore · 23/07/2020 13:45

@Iggi999 Yes 😁

Here's one to tie in with @NeedToKnow101's theme

Through all these cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights

Originally 1990s, then covered and used in a film in 00s

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/07/2020 14:12

Ooh! Spotted one. Rapper’s Delight by Sugarhill Gang (my best friend is word perfect on this one - highly entertaining when she’s had a drink or three)
VictoriousSockPuppet · 23/07/2020 14:15
@VictoriousSockPuppet Leave your hat on - used in The Full Monty?
Ah. I think it might have been used in the full monty, although that's not 80s, but I was thinking of 9 1/2 weeks which is.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/07/2020 14:16

@NeedToKnow101

and correct *@xsquared* too.

@SingingBabooshkaBadly - 'Can’t believe I missed Road to Nowhere. I‘ve guessed hardly anything for pages now. Even songs like that one that I know really well.'

I'm exactly the same. I miss so many songs that i know really well.

I seem to be getting worse though. I don’t mean missing them as in not seeing them until after someone else has guessed, I mean missing them as in seeing, reading but just not getting them. 🙁

Do you think chocolate might help me? 🤔
