Kitchen aid - which one

My DH loves baking. I really want to get him a kitchen aid. Is that what it's called?

A big mixer type thing.

Any recommendations please?

It's going to be his Xmas present.

He'd like one that had different utensils to swap.

Think it’s Harts of Stur where I got my other ka products

I have a dupe made by Andrew James which was a lot less money than a Kenwood or a KitchenAid because I just couldn't justify buying one to myself. It does everything I need it to, so it might be worth looking at something like that? I make bread with the dough hook at least once a week.

Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixer. I use it at least 4 times a week. It is beautiful.

There are always offers QVC or Lakeland or Harts.

They are often in sales so it's worth keeping an eye out. I have a red kitchenaid artisan mixer and it cost £279. It does a lot and has plenty of additional roles - like making pasta, grinding meat, etc - with attachments which use the motor, so it can be a handy kitchen item. A lot of its appeal is how beautiful it is though!

A kenwood mixer is a work horse and is potentially better value than the kitchenaid, just without the aesthetic value. So if you're just after the function, it could be a good option.

I also have the KitchenAid Artisan in the Cherry Apple Red. It's probably about 10 years old at least now, I took my pre-schooler with me to choose it as I said it would be hers one day! Hoping to still have lots of use out of it before handing it on though. It definitely improves the texture of cakes, and looks great on the counter!

I would check some Which reviews, but you will probably find that Kenwood and Kitchenaid are the brand leaders, and that Kenwood is better value for money.

I have a Kenwood kMix. It's fine, but I'd happily swap it for a Chef as they have more attachments. A basic model Chef isn't prohibitive.

I use my kMix for kneading bread dough. It's quite taxing, and I'd worry that it would blow out the average Kitchenaid as they're not as grunty.

Nb: I'm talking big batches of wholemeal bread dough.

I've had my kitchenaid artisan over 15 years and it's awesome. Expensive but really good. He will love it.

Kitchen aid have great customer service. My Mum's developed a fault and then they couldn't fix it have her a new one of her colour choice and we kept the old one. We were finally able to get the old one working enough for cakes etc. so she has two now. She bought me one and my sister one as house warming gifts when we bought our houses. Mine must be 11 years old now but going strong. I love it so easy to use.

I have the KA Artisan and it's as much a thing of beauty as it is a work horse. It makes everything easy I even shred chicken & pork so it's not just sweet treats! Mine was a gift too OP and I'm sure your DH will be as delighted with it as I am!

nancybotwinbloom · 19/07/2020 23:00

I'm sold.

I'm definitely getting him one.
