Anyone ever made their own? Keen to try this but not sure of what carrier oils to use.

Can’t help you sorry but had thought about it myself, so interested in any answers you may get. I love the smell of mai chang and geranium.

Thanks - those oils are lovely on their own and combined. May Cheng is gorgeous!

I've just found a great article - I'll link it shortly - really well explained. Would still love advice here though.

I asked a friend who sells oils, she said to use either fractionated coconut or sweet almond as a vase for the oils, and there are some recipe ideas on a website called Craft Invaders

CrystalMaisie · 20/07/2020 14:18

As a base, not vase 😂

Crystal thank you!

I’ve found the article imon that website, they compare 3 carrier oils for making reed diffusers. Augeo Clean Multi, said to be environmentally friendly, came out the winner. It’s sold on Amazon and had good reviews from people making their own diffusers. Mix it with 25% essential oil.

I'm really grateful for your help Crystal. Thank you Thanks

You’re welcome @WelshMoth, come back and update when you’ve made one. I’ve got the augeo stuff in my basket but haven’t ordered yet. I’ve bought some ylang ylang essential oil, and I think I’ve got some spare reeds that came with my last jo Malone diffuser. Good luck!

Hmmm I'm going wrong somewhere. I've used almond oil with a small amount of alcohol and ample essential oil (I used a favourite blend of mine - lemongrass and geranium) and there's no scent throw off it. I only get a faint scent if I rotate the bamboo sticks.

Real essential oils are beautiful but do tend to evaporate quite quickly. Commercial oils add stabilisers and potentially synthetic scents.

It's just a choice.
