As title says really. School holidays but not many things open locally yet. No holiday booked. We’ve been conditioned to stay in, on screens/loafing about the house with a daily walk which they’re very unenthusiastic about. What to do??

We’ve just booked go ape. Expensive but something to look to.

Also going to a country park with bikes.
Skatepark
Camping in garden
Orienteering - lots of places have permanent courses and you can print out the routes online. We do it backwards and the dc do it forwards so we can race.
Various walks with caves or big rocks to explore - take a rope so they can make a swing

My 16 year old DD seems to have turned nocturnal! I’m at work all day during the week so when I come home around 3pm she is just waking up.
If the weather is good she will go out with friends for the day (shopping, nearby beaches etc) or often she will just go for a long walk or ice cream with them in the evening.
She has been having lots of sleepovers as she is an only child and hates having to be in the house alone all the time.
Aside from that she has taken up baking over lockdown and will even occasionally cook dinner if I’m lucky.
Plenty of TV and screen time going on round here as well!

Mine is meeting friends for bike rides, going on a day trip here and there with me and younger dc, doing a Crest project, improving his Spanish, doing some revision for mocks.
Xbox and eating the rest of the time.

I’m Laying next to mine on a big bed on the beach in Ibiza.
She finished school abruptly like most school leavers so we’ve escaped whilst we can for a few days.

Mine would have been raiding the all-inclusive buffet in Tenerife for the last few days had we not had to cancel it. They seem to be creating the equivalent here instead and raiding the cupboard every couple of hours.

They've been left to their own devices since the beginning of June and have been stuck to screens all day. Some educational stuff but far too much Fortnite & Minecraft and not enough daylight. The Year 9 one is up and at it by 9am, the Year 11 by 10. We go on holiday in this country in a couple of weeks so we'll be doing lots of coast path walking hopefully and they can start to rebuild their muscle mass and cardio fitness which must be non-existent by now!

One is back at work (just) and is away with his friends for the weekend. One is on a month long online course run by a university so has something to focus on. The other one is meeting up with different friends and either meeting them in town for breakfast (before the crowds arrive) or grabbing an ice cream and walking in the park. As a family we have a weekly D&D night with the kids taking turns to DM campaigns and we have a virtual European tour by exercise bike or feet. We’re in Monschau at the moment.
I’m not really doing much ‘with’ them. I wouldn’t be ordinarily, so.... I do see them more than I would normally because I’m still wfh. We did spend some time helping dc1 redecorate bedroom. And dc1 helped dc3 paint a mural in her bedroom.
They take it in turns to cook dinner. And we eat together in the evening, that’s about it.
I mean, mostly, we’re at work. And in the evening, we’re knackered. It’s just life as normal but relocated. I wouldn’t be entertaining my teenagers in normal times...

It'll be much the same as the last 4 months if 12 year old DD gets her way. Youtube all day, sat in bed wearing the same clothes for days on end. She moans she has no clothes (to be fair, this is pretty accurate as her wardrobe is full of leggings and sweatshirts) but I've told her countless times over the past few months to choose stuff online and I'll order it.

We're going to book a holiday abroad for 3 weeks in the hope she'll spend some time in the pool / on the beach.

It is a one off rather than a regular thing but we have an alpaca walk booked to help guide the youngest towards going outside more.

@ihatethecold do u mind me asking what hotel or even just what resort you’re in? We are looking for somewhere to take my DD and her best friend as a little get away before the dreaded GCSE results :/

I’m staying in the marina part of Ibiza town. It’s in an Airbnb that my brothers already renting.
Flew with jet2 because they came out well during the pandemic.
It’s much quieter than July usually is so that’s been great.
It’s expensive though when you are here.
We are going to st Eulalia and Portinax today. I’ve always wondered what they are like (supposed to be fab for families)
I’m going to have a wander round and swim at the beaches so I can report back or you can PM me if you like.
It’s hot and beautiful and the people watching is great.
