Hair salons: would you expect to pay full price if this happens?

Just musing here...
Finally managed to book a much needed trim for tomorrow at my local salon. My hair is past my waist so I desperately need it.
I was just reading the guidelines they texted me and they all sound fine to me, including having to wash my hair at home before I arrive at the salon.

Not gonna lie but that's one of my favourite things about my haircuts, not having to wash and dry my unruly hair for a few days but I'm fine with doing it myself. However would you still expect to pay full price? I'll be paying £50 minimum.
I'll pay it regardless if that's the case but just wanted to get opinions

not a chance I would be paying over 50 quid for a dry trim. that is extortionate. I paid 70 for highlights, wash, cut and blow dry in comparison

They might be expecting you to wash it at home thinking that might remove any cv on it before they have to handle it then wash it again at the salon before cutting and styling it.

Aside from the cost issue, I really wouldn't want to be going out and travelling to the hairdressers with wet hair. Certainly not on public transport they would think you are mad as cheese not quite well Grin

Oh for sure! I'll be driving so that not an issue thankfully but I'm even inclined to put wrap my hair in my towel turban on the way, it's ok I live in Essex so won't be too out of place Grin

I had my hair cut last week & they washed it for me. Didn't dry it as I asked for a wet cut as I have very curly frizzy hair that does not like a hairdryer! Cost £26 (small village salon).

BreathlessCommotion · 16/07/2020 16:56

My hairdresser washed my hair (twice in fact because of the treatment I had) last week. Its not the government rules.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 16/07/2020 16:58

Ask them now how much’ll it be 🤷‍♀️

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 16/07/2020 16:59

There’s usually a dry cut option so I’d assume that’s what you pay.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/07/2020 17:47

I had my usual wash cut and colour last week The only difference was we both wore masks and she also wore a visor
There's no additional health risk, unless it's a time issue
I'd certainly expect a £5 price reduction to cover products, which are not used
Will your hair be blow dried afterwards?

bringbacksideburns · 16/07/2020 17:51

Its a dry cut so it should be cheaper.

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 16/07/2020 17:58

My hair is so thin it would be dry by the time I got to the hairdressers. I wouldn't be happy with paying £50 just for a cut either. Also if they can colour hair surely they're washing hair anyway?

PanamaPattie · 16/07/2020 18:02

I had my hair done on Monday. My hairdresser said the guidance was to work on freshly washed hair. Her salon washes everyone’s hair when they arrive and blast dry it. I had my highlights done, had my hair washed again, cut and blow dried. £55 including PPE.

IloveJudgeJudy · 16/07/2020 19:05

I had a cut and blow dry yesterday. Didn't get charged extra. Brought my own face mask but they would have provided one. I had to wait outside until my appointment time. They were only using every other station and wiping everything down thoroughly between clients. I was very impressed.

Papyrus · 16/07/2020 19:09

Strange how it varies. My hairdresser is washing all hair before cutting. Even those who would usually have a dry cut.

pinkgin85 · 17/07/2020 09:04

Well my appointment has been cancelled as the hairstylist called in sick today. I'm a bit annoyed as I have a special anniversary tomorrow and wanted to have my hair look nice so that won't be happening now...and the next available appointment was same time next week. And I did ask about the hair washing, despite me having to wash my own hair I'll be paying £53.50. I think I'll try and find somewhere else before then.

And I don't think they're as busy as I thought, she offered me an appointment for Sunday but I wasn't able to take it. Sooo I dunno I don't think the no hair washing is due to the backlog. But I think I might just get my sister to trim my ends for now and I'll wait for a proper cut.
