Usually ours is 90% parking, dog poo and lost cats but recent events have changed all that

We have had LOTS of:

  • black lives matter / oh do they all lives matter arguments
  • now we have lots of wear a mask / I won’t wear a mask it’s all a conspiracy
(Incidentally, the all lives matter group seems to cross over a lot with the I won’t wear a mask group and be punctuated by vaguely offensive memes and the kind of stuff you’d see on a BNP site)

There are new traffic calming measures in one part of town which has led to allegations of a split between east and west sides of town, so much chat in fact that the admins have added a “super thread” and now everyone is kicking off at them. Lots of allegations of denying them the opportunity to free speech.

It’s all very bonkers, rather offensive in places and slightly addictive.

I live in a big town with lots of county lines drug problems

Every time one of the brainless knuckle-draggers gets shot, stabbed or arrested the subsequent comments on the Warrington Guardian Facebook page are quite something to behold. Usually one of the relatives turns up to explain the victim and/or wannabe gangsta is just misunderstood and is really a lovely boy at heart.

There's one family in particular who are the scum of the earth and have one son in and out of prison for various violence and drugs charges. At one point his 16 year old niece (who is constantly in the back of a police car and has been since she was 13 and has been chucked out of school) was all over the comments like some kind of gangster's mol, threatening anyone who dared to call her darling uncle a scummy drug dealing violent thug.

I spend way too much time reading the comments. It's better than EastEnders.

We have the saga of the stolen milk. Someone has been following the milk man around in the wee small hours and stealing all the milk. One or two bottles I can understand, but every single bottle is weird. People with ring doorbells have got pictures of the culprit but he hasn’t been identified yet.

@bluesapphirestars OP was referring exclusively to the people on her local Facebook group! So unless you're on there, you don't need to worry.

RealJudas would that park be in a town with a number and a tree? If so my mum volunteers in that park, they’ve had an awful time with people mistreating the deer and chucking litter all over the place. Normally they put people off going near the deer by telling them they’ve got ticks but there were too many out of town visitors and no volunteers working at the height of lockdown.

We had a great one a few weeks ago about how runners should wear masks so they're not breathing heavily in public spaces. She wasn't prepared to wear a mask personally

RealJudas · 15/07/2020 18:13

It would indeed Barkandcheese, I've never seen the park like it, litter all over the place (the bins have been removed during lockdown, so what are the poor people supposed to do? Angry) and idiots flocking to pet the wild deer. I've had to stop going at weekends as I can't bear it.

@Dilovescake21

Our local one is obsessed by dog poo, bonfires, lost cats/dogs and more recently BLM. I joined it in the belief that it might be useful to hear what's going on in the local community but honestly it really winds me up. So many white people banging on that all lives matter etc and going on about Winston Churchill and the war! Loads of moaning about political correctness and the snowflake generation. A right bunch of racist moaners. I actually got bored one day and rejoined the group with a fake name and then called out all the racist comments - it was hilarious! There's also numerous posts whenever a helicopter flies over - weird. Glad to hear other places have the same nonsense going on.
Honestly this sounds exactly like my group, has yours got one married couple who patiently come to every thread to explain why, actually, black lives do matter?
