What time is after lunch?

A friend was going to drop something off for me today that I lent her a while ago. She said she’d come after lunch. She’s not here yet.

After lunch to me means 2pm, maybe up to 3pm?

What time!would you expect someone who said they’d be here after lunch?

After lunch to me is 2pm also

LadyMuck111 · 14/07/2020 15:10

I'd expect 2-3pm

mencken · 14/07/2020 15:10

yes, also 2-3 pm. Not half past sodding twelve as some of my neighbours seem to think!

TheBigRoundSquare · 14/07/2020 15:12

Thank you for your replies. I can see she’s active on WhatsApp at the moment as I went to send her a a message so she hasn’t left home yet. She lives about half an hour away so she won’t be here before 3.30 at the very earliest.

12.30 is very much lunchtime @mencken. Definitely not after!

1.30?

SleepingStandingUp · 14/07/2020 15:17

Was gonna say 2 also.
Message her Hi Friwnd, I need to pop out before dinner/tea/supper , can you let me know what time you'll be down.

Some perils will take after X to mean anytime from the end of x until midnight though

AllPlayedOut · 14/07/2020 15:18

About 2.

PuppyMonkey · 14/07/2020 15:20

I agree about 2pm is “after lunch.” Any later and it’s just common or garden afternoon imho.

TheBigRoundSquare · 14/07/2020 15:25

She’s just messaged to say she’s been caught up with another friend and suggested tomorrow instead. I can’t be bothered with her anymore. She always lets me down. How can I tell her not to bother whilst sounding bright and breezy, rather than saying fuck off which is what I want to say.

2pm

Redhair23 · 14/07/2020 15:28

Oh drop her, she is flakey and thinks that your time is not important.

Tell her you're tied up the rest of the week and you'll arrange something else in the future with her.
sittingonacornflake · 14/07/2020 15:35

Can she just drop it off whilst you're out perhaps?

catbellz · 14/07/2020 15:39

Well if you upset her be prepared that whatever the lent item was that she was supposed to be dropping off today might be lost forever.
Depending on what it was, get it back then have nothing to do with her.
If it's inconsequential, drop her now.

Potatoface12 · 14/07/2020 15:41

Do you need the item? If not I’d do a passive aggressive thumbs up emoji and not reply further.

Lockdownseperation · 14/07/2020 15:43

Before 5.

After lunch is anything after lunch, not straight away after lunch.

TheBigRoundSquare · 14/07/2020 15:43

I’m happy to lose what I lent her. I didn’t need in anyway. I’ve sent a very vague, maybe see you another time, reply.

She was coming for a catch up too. I’m a single parent to 2 teens and have hardly seen anyone during lockdown. She asked if I wanted a catch up and I said I’d love to because I’d been really lonely.

I’m better off without her.
