Tips of beating the apple shape?

Naturally, I'm a an apple shape. I come from a long line of apple shaped women whom gain weight easily. I also have ibs so do struggle with bloat

Anyway, I'd love tips of losing belly fat. I eat well and exercise but always have this belly there. Currently my legs are a size 8/10, I wear size 12 tops but tbh i feel like some of them just cling to my tummy. Whenever I try to exercise more or diet a bit the weight just comes off my legs and bum, it's really getting me down. My actual waist (belly button line) is much smaller (31inches last time I measured) but below there goes out big time

It is the way you naturally are.

A strong core from exercise, avoiding bloaty foods and finding styles that compliment your shape all help with looking good though.

I am similar shape and size to you and started the 16/8 diet about 2 months. I have lost about half a stone (10 stone to 9 1/2) and 2 inches off my waist my muffin top is much smaller. I have never dieted before so cant say whether 16/8 is any better for me than another diet at losing inches from my tummy but its working so far.

Exactly the same OP. My legs are skinny and I have no bum. All the weight goes on my stomach and is getting much worse since menopause (at 45) now 49.

I am size 8/10 everywhere but 14 round middle. I look like a weeble and am miserable about it. Like you, if I lose weight it is more off my legs etc.

I have to face it, I'm going to have to give up the booze. The only time I see a difference is when I do this.

I can't really improve my diet (apart from that). I don't eat sweet things or meat or processed stuff, or even much bread etc.

It's the booze, I drink a lot of booze! Do you think there's something you have a weakness for that you could go cold turkey on?

Would strength training help? So if you do a lot of leg work to develop some muscle and shape to the legs , then keep it up so that your legs don't lose as you do?

Thanks for the replies, I loosely do 16:8, I find it better for my acid reflux and ibs, I say loosely because I still have 3 small'ish meals in my 8hrs whereas my friends who do it only have two meals. I might try a bit harder with that

I do try and eat food that's dont make me bloat, again that's to do with the ibs and I dont drink, well very rarely, I've had three alcoholics drinks since lockdown began

Thank you for the replies

The key to losing weight around the middle is getting blood sugar levels under control. Reducing refined carbs and increasing protein might work well. High-intensity interval workouts or prolonged cardio apparently reduces abdominal fat.

I too am very much an apple shape and I crave those stodgy carbs big time. A book by Dr Marilyn-Glenville, called Fat-Around-Middle really worked for me initially. I don't think that you really need to buy all the expensive supplements she recommends (and sells) though.
The other thing that works for me is lots of strength training, squats and lunges are your friend and good core work. After putting a bunch of weight back on (damm you bread and cake!) I am now calorie counting, logging everything on My Fitness Pal and trying to eat plenty of good quality protein and minimal refined sugar and carbs. It's not massively easy but you can really reduce your tummy - us apples are very susceptible to insulin resistance. Good luck!
