Some houses make me feel sick

Anyone get this? We are house hunting atm. Saw 3 today. One gave me morning sickness esque nausea pretty much from the moment we walked in, with no obvious reason (eg stinky paint or wobbly floors - it was a pretty nice house, just not to my taste). I’ve had this 3 times before. Once at an Air BNB and once at a friend’s house.

I’m just wondering if it’s a vibe or a spidey sense or is it just because I’m that shallow that places not to my taste give me the quease Confused

I have a friend who is a hoarder. I feel overwhelmed and anxious in that house. On edge and uncomfortable.

I'm like that if I look at photos of hoarding, too.

@BubblegumFactory

In general, no I don’t get this feeling.
However, we once visited the cube houses in Rotterdam. It took about 3 hours for the nausea to subside. Literally had to find a bench to lie down on. I’d post a pic but I just googled it and felt ill again looking at the images!

I just googled them and I completely agree. Had never heard of them but they made me feel a bit sick just looking at the pics

There was a thread on MN a few years ago, I think, that said houses feel bad because there's something not quite right with the structure. It might be a slightly wonky wall or a movement in the house that makes our eyes vibrate very slightly, not enough for us to be aware of but enough for our bodies to recognise that something is 'wrong'. Am example from that thread was a slightly vibrating pipe in a room that when fixed, felt completely different.
I don't know if there's anything in it but it was an interesting thread.

@WokeEwok

Ok good it’s not just me.

The common thread I’ve just realised between all the houses that have made me feel this way is that they are new builds/very modern houses that have been built to look old and cottagey iyswim. I feel sort of unstable in them, I think that’s the best way to describe it. Maybe my subconscious is sensing structural problems Grin. But actually I think I feel more ‘grounded’ and safe in old houses. That sounds so woo. I’m not woo! I’ve only ever lived in old houses, so maybe they just don’t make me feel at home and therefore disorientated??

You have just described my new place Grin

But I had to take take it in a hurry and saving grace is that it's a few metres from a park which looked pretty

I prefer old buildings as well

When we viewed the house we’re in now we were told that someone had committed suicide in it a few years ago! But it has such a lovely warm friendly vibe that we moved in anyway.

Good skill to have ewok
You can heal your home
And there are people who do that
Last time I mentioned it BR thought I was touting for business
I’m not
But if you love you home and would like to stay you don’t have to put up with it is all I’m saying

I did mine with a help of a friend
Underground stagnant water can have a negative effect. Energy lines also.
Lost souls..I had 5
Yes, it is very woo
That’s all I’m saying

Mr Dowser didn’t like sitting in my lounge. Once my ex husband was moved to the light , he loves that room now.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt like that upon googling, there's something nauseating about them.

GuiltyBark, if you get the whiff of death when someone has died in the house, surely that must involve pretty well all older houses? It was quite normal until recently for people to die at home.

Those cube houses, I feel all skewiff after looking at those, let alone visiting 😱

I have been in houses I an never settle in, where I feel on edge the whole time.

Then there are houses like this one, and the first house we bought together, that on paper were wrong for us but as soon as I walked in I knew it was part of the family.

The house we are in now is a member of the family, it's a part of us.

Yes!!! For me it's any houses with high ceilings. I can't go into stately homes. A friend once persuaded me to go into Buckingham Palace with her and I turned green as grass. Honestly had to force myself not to vomit. Was escorted out of a side door before I threw up all over the Queen's floor! I'm not sure why I'm like this but always have been.
