Evening all. Posting here for traffic. I'm looking for the Ordinary retinol 2%. It seems to be sold out everywhere..... Can anyone help??

@Windyjuly

Wow what is this stuff!!
It’s a serum that’s supposed to help make you look younger - no idea if it actually works, my delivery only arrived today 🤷🏻‍♀️

(Other brands are available but this one is one of the less expensive ones that is meant to be good.)

Retinoid is weaker than retinol. CH has written blog posts about this so it's worth reading about.
The Inkey List 1% is in squalane so you can use on its own or with another oil or moisturiser on top but wait 20 mins or so before using one of these.
Inkey List 1% retinol is still fairly weak as it's Retistar.

Have you looked on Depop OP? There is frequently unopened or barely used products on there for less

God I just don't understand it all.....the number of serums and creams available is mind boggling...

Is it actually 2% pure retinol? There is so much mixed information on retinol/retinoid products out there and they massively vary in price. Is the £8 2% retinol from the ordinary really better than say the 0.5% retinol from someone like Zein Obagi for >£100? Someone please explain this to me!

UnicornAndSparkles · 10/07/2020 22:08

Well worth trying tretinoin if you're into retinol. Its basically a stronger version. Dermatica have a free trial month going atm. I tried it for free and ended up having monthly deliveries as its so good!

notevenamum1 · 10/07/2020 22:10

Is the ordinary pure retinol?

notevenamum1 · 10/07/2020 22:11

Would love to try dermatica but they don’t deliver to my country sadly

Whatthefunk · 10/07/2020 22:30

Just filled in the dermatica form, is it really easy to cancel? I don't want to be stuck paying out £20 a month....

You could try Matrixyl instead. Retinol just doesn't agree with my skin but I've had great results from Matrixyl which is a synthetic retinoid but I always use it with Rosehip oil or squalane.

If you go on the Deciem site you can get advice from their staff. Tell them your concerns and what you want to achieve and they will suggest a routine. They are very good. Also The Ordinary branded products are very well priced.
I think their retinol product is very good and there are a few different ones.
As a previous poster said the Matrixyl gives very good results for me.

Deciem IS The Ordiinary. It’s their brand.

I’d agree with having a look at Caroline Hiron’s website - she has lots of info on retinols.

Always start slowly. Don’t use an acid at the same time. Use SPF every day.

The Ordinary 1% is a great starter one but it won’t necessarily do much. Great to get your skin used to it though. Going up to the 2% is a good idea. You could then progress to a stronger one if you wanted.

Retinol is a slow game for most people. You won’t necessarily see amazing results straight away.

Dermatica is supposed to be great although I haven’t tried it. It’s apparently very easy to cancel. And I think you can stretch out your delivery. You won’t necessarily get through a tube of it in a month especially at the beginning when you won’t be using it every night. So you can delay your deliveries.

Another good ‘starter’ retinol is Indeed Labs Retinol Reface. I think that’s the name anyway! Boots do it.
