Ebay offers when I've switched offers off

I sell everything on Buy It Now, with the best offer thing switched off. Occasionally people will write to me with offers anyway, which I still think is CF although I know Ebay tend to encourage it a bit. Usually they're not even in full sentences, or written in a non-polite manner, so I tend to ignore them. I've only ever given one person a small discount, and she didn't even leave feedback to say thanks. So now, if someone writes to me, I'll always check their feedback left for others. If you have a feedback score of 500 but you've only left 20 for others, then the answer's no.

I have now received a message from someone asking if I'll accept offers, but they didn't actually suggest a price. I'm in two minds about it.

How do people feel about receiving these offers when they've switched it off? I would never go into a shop and ask for a discount, but apparently a lot of people would.

Why would they be a cf? They're only asking, its not cheeky to ask as it's on you to say yes or no

I hate it because I've specifically switched off the "best offer" function, so I would've thought it was obvious that I don't accept offers.

I think it's cheeky. If you've turned off offers mean you do not want an offer. I've sold a few bits and bobs on eBay and it always Amazes me just how rude people can be. I'd just message saying no sorry

I sell on eBay and won't accept offers out of principal! People really try it on with the amount offered. You can always relist it if is doesn't sell and reduce the price if needed.

Sometimes the option will be there but they’re not accepting offers.

If I see that, I always message to ask what they’d like for it (I always ask what they’d like as I don’t want to be rude making a low offer) And they’ll say “I’m not accepting offers” so I just pay the price originally stated.

Reply saying, you are willing to accept an offer of whatever you are willing to accept, but if you aren't open to offers ignore it.

I switch off Make an offer but it often manages to sneak in there.
At the moment, I want sales to finish on the same day, so I might accept an offer but don't want to sell in dribs and drabs.

I'm one of those people that just forgets to leave feedback... But reading this I felt guilty and went a did most of them.

OP, if the CF you accepted an offer on something on, was buying a baby romper, I'm sorry for forgetting until now! 😂😂

I don't care if I don't get feedback now, there is always the chance that someone will trash it. I am on Ebay to sell items and am able to do so even when I have taken a break and my star ratings have vanished. It really isn't that important these days, unless you are new and don't want to look new.

I have noticed that there is an option to make an offer sometimes on the ask a question section. Not sure if it is always there or maybe something Ebay were trying out. I have also seen listings where the seller has written 'no offers', maybe try that?
