Ds is 8 years old.

He's suffering with what I assume is hayfever - steaming and slightly itchy eyes mainly

Neither DP or I have ever suffered so I'm not too sure on how best to help him

He's taking normal antihistamine - just off the shelf stuff. I'd love to know if there's anything else we can do / get to help him out though.

He doesn't moan but I feel so sorry for him.

DD6 has -

Eye drops from G.P or Morrisons/Tesco own.

Benadryl Allergy NaturEase Nasal Spray before School.

Haymax - to rub below nostrils, from Morrisons.

Hayfever tablets (Cetrazine) from Poundland.
5g before School & 5g before bed or Loratidine liquid from G.P.

Shower as soon as she gets home, to get pollen off her.

They say not to dry their clothes outside, but I do.

Also not to open their bedroom window.

Its horrible Sad

Some anti-histamines are drowsy inducing!

Look at cetirizine - over the counter at the Pharmacy - Bit of a game changer

Hi op, my daughter suffers terribly too.
You could get him some eye drops, sodium chromoglicate 2% they really help, they're just advertised as allergy drops.
There's also a beconase nasal spray but I've not been very successful with that but I know people who swear by it.
Piriton is good, cetirizine is another one that you can get in syrup, ask at your pharmacy.

Meds aside, you need to keep his bedroom window shut at all times in high season. Wash bedding frequently. Wash hair before bed. Vaseline inside nostrils and around eyes and on eyebrows. Maybe buy an air purifier for his bedroom. We got one off amazon for about £30
Dust & hoover his bedroom regularly. Having a fitted sheet to put on top of his bed clothes to stop pollen settling on it during the day helps but it's a bit of a faff.
