Why am I always tired?

Looking for advice here please and posting here for hopefully more traffic.

I'm always tired. I don't drink alcohol and try to eat well, haven't exercised much in lockdown and I know that can have some effect, so I need to rectify that.

Everything time I get bloods done, they come back fine. Yet I'm still tired. I do have a multi-vitamin which I try to take every day, but sometimes forget. Also a vitD3 supplement.

Any ideas as to what else I could try please? I'm early 40s, kids, work full time - the usual.

I don't want to be tired but it doesn't seem like anything obvious is wrong.... thanks in advance for any advice!

Following with interest.
I'm 46, very overweight, and perimenopausal.
Had a raft of blood tests done privately, all fine except my VitD level was 24 which is low.
Started high dose supplements of 8000iu daily but I still feel dreadful. I also have pernicious anaemia but I get regular injections for that.

I have a 2 hour nap each afternoon but I just feel constantly exhausted.

I was thinking of buying Pharmaton, has anyone tried these?

Depression and anxiety can make you exhausted. You say you work full time and have three kids how much time do you actually have for yourself that's quality time to relax?

monkeyonthetable · 11/07/2020 09:40

@HousesforChickens - I felt like you. Often still do. I am now finally admitting to myself that my weight may be a massive part in the tiredness (rather than what I believed before, which was that I put on weight because i was too tired to exercise or do anything physical like housework, decorating etc.) Along with meno symptoms, it's such a vicious circle.

@wickedfairy

Lots of questions for you, but you're not answering?

wickedfairy · 12/07/2020 20:48

Hello All - apologies for not answering sooner, I've been working all weekend (long shifts!).

Thank you for all the advice and suggestions - I'll read through them all again and take notes.

I am a very light sleeper and often feel disturbed (sleep alone), however I've just started using an eye mask and ear plugs and I think it does make a slight difference. I get about 7-8 hours per night, although would like a little more.

I'm not overweight or underweight but I do think I need to do more exercise. I did run but can't anymore after surgery. I do Pilates and yoga although I have lacked lately BCaM need to get back into it. Need to do more and get out for walks, etc.

I will look into the liquid iron supplements as that may make a difference. I think I eat quite well / healthily but sometimes I think I leave it too long between meals and that may contribute towards tiredness. I do not take anti-depressants, so not that. I take a multi vitamin, some D3 and a low maintenance dose of aspirin (told to by doctors after surgery).

Thanks for your help. Do you think I should try to get some more bloods done at the doctors or try to do more exercise and eat more regularly first?

What does 'I think I eat quite well/healthily' actually mean? What would be a typical day's food for you?

wickedfairy · 12/07/2020 22:06

Hi BIWI,

Today I had:
A few Coffees and 1 litre water
an apple and babybel cheese

Spinach, herb, edamame beans and sprouting pea salad with Salmon fillet and houmous, with tomato and cucumber and red peppers

2x Pulled pork with coleslaw in brioche buns

Herbal teas
Packet of crisps (I try not to eat too many of those!)

I don't usually eat breakfast, just lunch and dinner. Maybe that isn't helping?

Thanks!
