What do your DC play with outside?

DC, 8&10. Play with the neighbour's kids (3,3,6,11) in the communal garden. All other children live in downstairs flats so have their own garden and trampoline/swimming pool that ours get invited to. We can't reciprocate.
There's a path between the houses they scoot and skate on and a communal sand pit.

They're getting bored. What can I get for them all to play with? Can't be anything fixed.

Garden including path is 3m wide, narrowing to 2 at the end. The path is the access to the front door.

We have a seesaw which has got good use over the years. I think you can get fold up ones which might be an option? swingball might also be another option, or one of those boxes of giant garden games

willloman · 10/07/2020 15:16

Mine loved sticks, bugs, mud - in no particular order.

danni0509 · 10/07/2020 15:20

Chalk & a bubble machine for another couple of options.

Older ones might be a bit too old for those though although I'm 31 and enjoying chalking and putting ds bubble machine on

You’re never too old for a bubble machine/

Scooters, bikes balls of various sizes, go-karty thing, pavement chalks, a 'flat' version of boules (throw but don't roll), quoits, some imaginative game based on whatever they have been watching, tennis.

Literally anything he can get his hands on. Sticks, stones, mud, flowers ......plus indoor toys that are suitable for outdoor play. Current favourite is creating battle scenes with his toy soldiers in the overgrown grass in the field next door. I feel sorry for the little girls living next door as I overheard him telling them one had to be Hitler and the other Churchill 😂😂

I don't think there would be space for swingball.
I thought about a badminton net but it would either have to go over the path leading to the houses or directly outside of the window of the only childless ground floor neighbours. There would be less than 1m clearance to his windows. So whilst it is technically part of the communal garden, I don't know if it's ok to let the kids play badminton or volleyball there?
Stones are forbidden for all kids because of the little ones throwing them.
Not really space for bikes.
I'd forgotten the chalks, and like the idea of a huge board game!

Spent £1000 on spring free trampoline

Priceless

Atadaddicted · 10/07/2020 16:58

They’ll love chalk games and similar for a weekend

Atadaddicted · 10/07/2020 16:59

Swing ball is very versatile, you can shorten the string on it.

Atadaddicted · 10/07/2020 17:05

That why I think you don’t bother!

Go for something with longevity

Atadaddicted · 10/07/2020 17:05

3 top Young for swing ball. No hand eye ball coordination yet

Snigletted · 10/07/2020 18:24

It can't be anything permanent, and has to be collapsible and smallish to store. I would have to bring it in every night. Garden is a long, thin triangle; 1.25m at the top to just over 3.5m at the end.

Can they not go 'out' to play? Or do they have to stay in the garden? My ds and his friends play around our estate, not with anything in particular though, they just seem to make up games, usually some version of tag or hide and seek. Other than that they're either out on bikes or playing football/rounders/water gun fights.

Snigletted · 10/07/2020 18:39

They have to stay in the garden. I don't mind my two going to the park (I can see it from my window as I'm top floor) but the younger kids are too young. Plus my eldest is not particularly sensible and the youngest copies him. They are the only kids in our road anyway.

@Snigletted I got ds 2 football goals from smyths toys think it was 2 for £20, mini ones so suitable for your smaller kids. Not sure if that would work with your garden size but just a thought.

B&M yesterday had a sack race kit about £3. eBay for plastic eggs and spoons for egg and spoon race. They have bean bags etc for bean bag race.

I've bought a heap of random shit to occupy my ds over the summer, we have no other kids to play with so it's just me and him for our sports day 😂

Atadaddicted · 10/07/2020 20:33

I’m pretty relaxed but would you really allow a 3 year old and 6 year old on their own?@TakemetoGreeceplease
