I've been trying to walk 10k steps a day.

I wonder does it really make a difference?

On the days I work sometimes I don't even manage 3000 steps so on other days I do at least 10k, if not 15k to try and get fitter. Been doing this for 6 weeks and not sure I feel much different. Not that I'm planning on stopping as I know it's better to be active.

It does make a difference in your overall health. Regular exercise absolutely lowers all cause mortality. However it won't consume enough calories to cause significant weight loss without also changing your diet.

So it depends on your goals, if you see what I mean.

I have been doing this and lost a few lbs but the most thing I have noticed is my rhr has decreased which is good. Plus at the beginning it was a struggle to do it but now I easily do it and keep active most hours awake

I hadn't thought about looking at my resting heart rate. Maybe I will. I'll definitely carry on as it's one of those targets that isn't unachievable for most days. I used to think 10k steps was loads but it's actually not really.

Quality is also important ie heart rate. Better 8k steps with a high heart rate than 10k+ ambling

It started me on the road to running, for sure. After a few months of getting the 10k steps I thought, I’ll just see how far I can run, and I amazed myself!

Previously 30 seconds solid running would have been a challenge Blush

So I started C25K, did a 10k run and now running is one of the best parts of my life.

I’m not really thinner though. Just fitter, healthier and a bit more toned.

well you burn more calories so it has to be better than 3000 steps.

I have done over 20,000 steps today - a run and lots of walking. I feel much better on these days, than the days I've wfh all day and done 4000 steps. My resting heart rate is around 50 which i think is actually athlete level for my age (I'm not an athlete). But I do move around a lot and run most days
