Are you still going out for a daily walk?

Before the virus I used to divide my exercise into either walking or swimming several times a week.

I'm really missing the pool, but have still been walking most days. I don't think about it, just get up and go. I plug into an audio book and have been exploring some new local routes, especially along the canals.

What about you?

I have a hound which needs a walk every day, so the daily walk has always been a thing in my house Smile

caulioccolii · 09/07/2020 15:49

Yes and really enjoying it!
After being forced to swap our daily activities for 'stay at home walks' I realised how much better I felt for getting out for a walk and fresh air rather than just pottering around, maybe going to the supermarket or taking DS somewhere to play!
Now if I don't get out for Atleast an hour I feel like a slug. It's really opened my mind up to self care and how important it is for physical and mental health!

vanillandhoney · 09/07/2020 15:53

I have a beagle - daily walking is the norm here Grin

Peachypips78 · 09/07/2020 16:03

Yes- OH and I started walking an hour a day when lockdown happened. We've only missed it three times and we have both said we want to do this forever. We talk about our day.

Our boys are old enough to be left for an hour which is nice. I've also lost a stone!

SparklingLime · 09/07/2020 16:18

No, I only lasted six weeks or so. I’m now a slug.

DulciUke · 09/07/2020 16:26

I was doing well until the temperatures started to rise. Under a heat advisory for the past several days, which doesn't help.

Angel2702 · 09/07/2020 16:46

Trying to but with different school pick up time for all three of my kids and the change in weather I’ve not done one every day.

IdblowJonSnow · 09/07/2020 16:59

Yep. Love walking. Keeps me sane.
Haven't actually been out today but that very unusual for me.
I've got very used to more local routes and feel less of an urge to stay further afar than pre-lockdown. I feel brainwashed, its weird!

mollokoy · 09/07/2020 17:00

No because it will not stop raining.

I'm boycotting outside in protest (it isn't listening).

Deathraystare · 09/07/2020 17:06

I haven't been on one. I have a very overactive bladder and if the loos are locked (and let's face it there were not many public ones to begin with)...

BogRollBOGOF · 09/07/2020 17:17

Most days unless the weather is particularly dismal.

Normally I'd be going out on 2, 3, 4 school runs a day, walking to community activities and that all dried up in March. I'm needing to conciously get out and walk several km just to replace my incidental movements that aren't occurring lèt alone the other exercise I do anyway.

TheDogsMother · 09/07/2020 17:21

Yes still walking daily even though our Ddog was put to sleep at the end of April. Miss him terribly and a walk doesn't quite feel complete without him.

BertieBotts · 09/07/2020 17:23

Yes, we have an extremely active toddler who needs wearing out!

Rhine · 09/07/2020 17:23

When the weather is decent, yes. It’s one of the things I intend to carry on doing after this over.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 09/07/2020 17:31

Sometimes. I’m so bored with the route though and I don’t enjoy it. I am doing Zoom Zumba, Pilates, yoga and dance though.

StandardPoodle · 09/07/2020 19:31

Yes - dogs to be exercised so I'm out every day, come rain or shine.

Drivingdownthe101 · 09/07/2020 19:32

I walk the DD’s to school, walk to fetch them, take the toddler for a walk and walk the dog twice... so yeah, 5 times!

custodiandiscount · 09/07/2020 19:36

no, i'm bored stiff of my neighbourhood! now no time either as work has really ramped up because we've all got used to being online. well some others have anyway Sad

megletthesecond · 09/07/2020 19:40

Yes, we are SO bored of it. Then I often go for a run too.

AnneLovesGilbert · 09/07/2020 19:41

Yes, pretty much whatever the weather (and it’s been shite here lately) apart from when it was just too hot. We’ve discovered some gorgeous walks and got to know the area around where we live much better. Since DD stopped nodding off in the buggy we’ve got a new sling which means we can off road a bit easier. It’s been really brilliant. Nothing stopped us doing it before and I’ve always walked since we had her but not as often, for as long, or all 3 of us together and we’re not going to stop.

PeacefulInTheDeep · 09/07/2020 19:42

Yes, it's saved my sanity!

Baby naps in the pram/carrier. Toddler gets to wear his legs out for half an hour then has lunch in the buggy while DH and I have a normal, grown up conversation. Home in time for toddler's nap.

On weekdays we are limited to an hour as DH is on his lunch break. Weekend walks are longer and sometimes involve a picnic or recently, a stop at the playground.

bloodywhitecat · 09/07/2020 19:54

I have a 10 month old dog, a 8 month old baby and an 11 week old baby getting out of the house for a walk can be a mission but I do it, every single day.
