Boy or Girl Fetal Doppler Heartbeat *Just for fun*

This is my first time using a Doppler so it might not be entirely accurate. I’m about 11 weeks pregnant and this is what I’ve got. Boy or girl? This is just for fun. I’m just interested to see what others would guess maybe based on what their own babies heartbeats sounded like or just what they think 🙂

You can’t tell the gender by the heartbeat Hmm

They used to reckon a lower heart rate meant boy.

DD2 was off the scale low. Grin

I thought it was a galloping heart beat was a boy and a slower heart beat for a girl.

It's almost as if it is made up nonsense Wink

Still, it's an exciting time and fun to try and guess.

Congratulations on your pregnancy OP Flowers

Haha, it’s just for fun. I’m just bored and keep looking for any signs to guess.

Does it sound like a train or a horse? Boys are trains, girls are horses - my midwife told me this 😂

NotYourDawg · 07/07/2020 18:32

There's the other way of guessing which is whether your bump is "all front" for a girl or "all over" for a boy. You'll have to wait to try that one out though!

AmbaH · 07/07/2020 18:37

I don’t even know 😂 it sounds more like a train to me. I used the Doppler again and I got a reading of 155 bpm. I have two daughters and I remember their heart rate being a bit higher above 160. This is also the first pregnancy where I’ve had really strong cravings. I know every pregnancy is different regardless of whether you’re carrying a boy or a girl but I’m always impatient and look for any sign to try and take a guess as to what gender it might be 😅😂

those home dopplers are really dangerous OP

GoshHashana · 07/07/2020 18:58

I heard my DD's heartbeat at my midwife appointment today, and it sounded like a galloping horse, if that's any help!

InvisibleToEveryone · 07/07/2020 19:02

Unless you know what you're doing, it probably isnt the heart beat.

Most of the time it's the umbilical blood flow, hence why midwives want them banned.

Mothers think they're hearing a heart beat when they're not and don't seek help when they should.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 07/07/2020 19:03

Above 140 is girl, below is boy (supposedly)

CrimeCantCrackItself · 07/07/2020 19:16

Without sounding horrible, because I really don't mean to, but, at 11 weeks, the chances of an experienced midwife picking up the heartbeat are slim, so I'd be very surprised if that's actually what you're hearing.

AmbaH · 07/07/2020 19:24

I thought the placenta was the whooshing noise? I’m just guessing I’m 11 weeks but I could actually be a little bit further along than that. I haven’t had a scan yet so it hasn’t been confirmed exactly how far gone I am. I do believe it is the baby’s heartbeat. I listened to my own for a bit before hand and the rhythm my chest was moving from my heart beat was slower than the heart beat the Doppler was picking up so I’m sure it is the baby’s heartbeat but I’ll wait to see what it sounds like when the midwife checks and be sure to ask her about it 🙂

Put it away and don’t use it! In my area midwives don’t listen to the babies heartbeat until after your 20 week scan - they won’t even do it at 16 weeks because it’s too hit and miss. You have no idea what you’re listening for. Leave it to the professionals.

AmbaH · 07/07/2020 20:01

I’ve just read online that doctors and midwifes can check for a baby’s heart beat as early as 8 weeks. I heard my two girls clearly earlier on in pregnancy but that was with the midwife. This is my first time using my own Doppler at home and I think I’ve managed to pick it up. I think they’re fine and fun to use in between appointments and I just wanted to know what other people thought. Thanks for your comments 🙂
