We're a family of six (4 kids, 1 under 2 by the time we want to go). I was there about 20 years ago, but no idea where to look for planning advice. We think we can do it for 5-7k. Ideally next year if the virus allows.

At the moment you need a valid Disney ticket AND a date-specific theme park reservation in order to visit a Disney park - theme park reservations are subject to availability. You have to have paid for your park tickets in full before you can reserve park days.

Would not be planning next year. Everyone who got bumped from this year will be wanting to go. It is the 50th anniversary. There are currently 10,000+ covid cases per day being recorded in Florida.

Thanks OhYeah that definitely gives me hope

Everyone who got bumped from this year will be wanting to go [next year]

Not us, quite a few of us booked for 2020 are now delaying until 2022. I think any pent up demand will be levelled off by those whose financial circumstances have changed which sadly there will be a lot of over the next 6-12 months. But I agree, I do not intend to go next year with how it looks at the moment. That said OP may be able to take advantage if some cheap deals come up, but they seem to be trying to deter people rather than entice atm.

I am Shock at this! Can you pay and reserve at the same time, or only see which days are reserveable after paying?

Your 13 year old will pay adult prices for the flight won't they?

Lunch at Chucky cheese sharing a basic platter is going to cost you $100.

You've no chance of doing it for 5k. None whatsoever. The example you gave of LA was over 10 years ago. Exchange rates have made all the difference unfortunately.

To have a decent time as a family of 6 with a baby you'll need 2 weeks and 8-10k

Wolfsony · 07/07/2020 19:11

The rides are going to be an issue with a baby as he/she won't be allowed on most of the good ones. Does your DH not mind holding the baby literally? It's quite a big age gap to accommodate.

Fressia123 · 07/07/2020 19:19

I'm more of the thrill seeker of the lot. At the same time I've been to Disney before (Orlando, Paris and Anaheim) whereas most of the lot hadn't.

So as much as I'd probably enjoy the rides more, I wouldn't mind missing out.

It depends on when you go....no way I'd take a baby in the summer holidays. It's just unbearably got. At least Disney has the spray park bit to cool them down. But it's an awful lot of money to pay for a bit of a spray park with a baby. I'd be more inclined to swap days staying at the hotel pool with the baby than dragging a very hot baby around somewhere not designed for them at great cost.

Florida has extended its state of emergency for another 60 days. 43 hospitals , including those covering Orlando have their ICU at full capacity. Wont be any trips this summer by the look of it. Would not be considering first half of next year to be honest.

Fressia123 · 08/07/2020 06:46

Yes, it's all COVID dependent. We've decided to wait to see what happens for next three months before we get to start planning.

There is a hell of a lot going on with Disney at the moment relating in part to COVID but also the 50th Anniversary next year 2021 may well not be the year to dip your toe in for the first time
