MMC - which option did you choose?

Hi ladies. To give you all a bit of background: I am 36 and stopped taking contraception last May. Had regular periods until about December when I started a new and stressful job. Since then my periods have been out of whack. Hubby and I were going to start TTC this summer but we got pregnant in May without even trying - total miracle! But the miracle didn’t last. Went for my 12w scan last week to be told only 6w1d. I hadn’t given up hope until this Saturday when I started spotting. It’s still only when I wipe but it is there. Called EPU this morning - she outlined all 3 options: 1) natural MC; 2) tablet/pill; 3) surgical (under local or general anaesthetic). Now I have to decide. Basically the most important thing for me is to stay healthy because we want to TTC as soon as we can as we want to have children. Which options would you recommend/have you chosen previously. I would be grateful for any experiences please!

Hi OP. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had a MMC (should have been 9 weeks but baby stopped growing at 6). I chose to have an ERPC as I couldn't cope with the idea that it might happen at any time. In saying that, I had to wait for four days for an appointment, and found that wait incredibly difficult.

My procedure was fine and the doctors and nurses were so very kind. I felt comfort from them, and from the fact that it was properly over at that point, and I could start to grieve properly. I felt unable to until it was over.

Take care of yourself, OP. Thanks

So sorry your going through this. I had a mmc in 2010 I was 11 weeks only measured 9, I opted to do naturally but after 2 weeks it didn’t happen, so then I decided to have medical. Then the same year I got pregnant and noW have my nearly 9 year old son.

Many thanks to you all for sharing your painful experiences but I’m pleased to read that you’ve all recovered well! As an update, I’ve booked in my scan for this Thursday and the surgery for next Tuesday. Now that I know and have a bit of a timeline I can work with this I think. Cheap pregnancy tests are a good idea - thanks as I assume I will be using them first to see that they’re negative and afterwards to see they’re positive :) we have clear blue ovulation sticks from last time but we didn’t get to use them as got pregnant straight away - guess I can now start using them after my first period.
