My filling has just fallen out

No pain .

Back right molar, filled about 1999/2000, damn thing has just landed in my mouth and tooth has a massive hole in it . It has a partially erupted wisdom tooth behind which I suspect is the issue - have lost two both upper back molars directly due to wisdom teeth breaking them .

I know I need to see a dentist ASAP (depending on cost, I haven’t got much spare cash at all as a student) but what should I do meantime ? Have rinsed with salt water, was slight bleeding to start with but now just a gaping hole instead . Would they just whip the remaining tooth out and then deal with the wisdom one later ?

Keep it if possible (I've got a few teeth missing and wish I'd saved the ones that have been removed)

Brush as normal and salt wash when you can, try not to chew on that side & phone the dentist, are you private or nhs? Private you have more options at the minute. Nhs it's generally if your in pain & even then only extractions.

You can buy temp dental filler kits from amazon / eBay which is what dentists have been recommending during lockdown.

I think I thought you meant like keep it in a box once they’ve taken it out ! Aye I will do if I can . Be NHS dentist - definitely can’t afford private .

Have checked with the last dentist and they’re saying non AGP only so extraction, prescription or advice . I suppose as it’s not painful might manage with a temp filling bit as it’s not sore wondering if the tooth is just rotten !

You can get temporary filling stuff from Boots which actually lasts quite well.

Good luck with the NHS dentist!

If you’re registered with a practice a few years ago you stay on their books don’t you ? There’s a BUPA ten mins drive away taking NHS patients but am still registered (I hope) with NHS practice in city 40 mins drive away ...

I lost a tooth due to a wisdom one coming through and breaking it.

I’m also due to lose another once my appointment gets rearranged and now have twinges in a 3rd. Can’t get a dentist to do anything at the minute, it’s so worrying as I don’t want it to get worse in the time I’m waiting for them to eventually start working fully again.

Clean it. Put temporary filling in it from boots. Go to dentist ASAP. If you’ve not been for your 6 month checks you won’t be on the books anymore I wouldn’t have thought. You can ring 111 to get an emergency appointment depending on how bad it is.
