Help! Bread dough hasn't risen

This has never happened to me before! I made dough early this morning using about 1200g of precious flour, and - oh! I've just realised I probably didn't use nearly enough yeast, I was storing it in half ounces instead of ounces. What a twit! I'm going to try kneading another half ounce into it, any chance that will work?

Depends
Do you want it to be as tasty as ever
Or a bit... off

Etinox · 04/07/2020 11:14

🤞 @Bloodybridget
I’m making sour dough today using a friends starter. The pressure! 🤦🏻‍♀️

EveryDayIsLikeMonday · 04/07/2020 11:21

I would just leave it longer to prove.

Just leave it another hour.
If it needs a kickstart, I put an inch of hot water in the sink, out.the chopping board above as a shelf and put the bowl of dough on that. Yeast is definitely happier above typical UK house temperatures- my best bread was when we lived in a house that got cooled to 26C year round. It was so quick to make!

Well it's already had nearly 5 hours, EveryDay. Anyway I have added more yeast, crossing fingers! Atadaddicted my bread has a tendency to be rather brick-like as it is . . Etinox good luck with yours!

RedCat mine has always risen quite fast before now.

Did it work?

Bloodybridget · 04/07/2020 14:50

It looks slightly more promising, @EveryDayIsLikeMonday, I don't think it will win any prizes though! I'm still leaving it rising.

I'm going to put it in the tins to prove now, don't think it will grow much more.
