I've an 8 & a 6 year old in the ROI, we have no idea here how schools will be returning... I've stocked up on workbooks & reading books & plan to sign up to twinkl if we need to. Our school provision was not good, dc had work fully completed in under an hour. I'm a sahm so fortunately have the time to hs just want to be more prepared more if a second wave comes..

I know your education system will be different but the UK Oak National Academy has been renewed for the 2020-2021 school year. You don’t have to register and you should be able to access from Ireland. Video lessons that have been recorded can’t compete with Live lessons provided by school tailored to their audience but it’s worth looking at as a resource

Oak Academy is wonderful, I'm gutted I didn't discover it earlier!

I was impressed with Oak Academy at first but then spotted they'd spelt 'King's throne' as 'thrown' in a year five English grammar test (and no we weren't on homophones). I couldn't help but agree with my son that it is therefore a pile of crap.

The CGP books however are much better, ask your child's teacher which one they'd recommend or be on at school. For maths we've 'enjoyed' a Carol vorderman ten minute test book.

Yes, I am fully expecting schools to close again in sept/October. I'm not too concerned about home schooling resources as there's so much online. For me it's more stocking up on things go entertain 5 year old DD while I am working which I am stocking up on..from.the pound shop/Aldi etc...we didn't go to the shops during lockdown and it was little things like balloons she wanted and I didn't want to buy from Amazon.

I've stocked up on balloons, glow sticks, stickers, craft bits, cheap phonics and maths work books with stickers in which are more fun than the school resources, cheap water pistols, balls etc..

Our school suggested lots online resources for phonics..teach your monster to read and maths ones..if you do a search I'm sure lots will come up. Twinkl was free at the start of lockdown, of its still free/cheap maybe save some stuff to have for future. They do fantastic Christmas crafts...we start the Christmas crafts as soon as bonfire night is over..keeps them busy..

Thanks so much, dh thinks I'm insane🙈 but I truly want to be ready...
@heresanothername it was balloons, pvc glue, the little nifty workbooks with rewards & stickers we were missing that I want to have a little stash of...
