What can I make with a load of porridge oats?!

Severely sleep deprived me thought it would be a great help to do my shopping online for once, but I’ve only gone and ordered 10 1kg bags of bloody porridge oats!

Other than flapjacks or oat biscuits what else can I make?!

Lemon oat cookies

Flapjacks

Oat snack bars

I add a scoopful of oats to my smoothies and shakes to bulk them out and add good carbs. A favourite at the moment is
1 banana
6-8 strawberries
1 scoop of oats
100ml almond milk
Whizz everything up with a hand blender and it's good to go!

Good idea about donating to the food bank, I shall do that!

Funnily enough none of us even eat porridge, I only ordered because I had some golden syrup in the cupboard and fancied making some flapjacks!

Protein balls! I make these for DP and DSD as a snacks for the week

Oats
Honey
Chocolate chips (if you would like)
Protein powder (if you want)
Dried fruit/chia seeds (again, optional)

Just mix together and have fun making little balls. Store in the fridge in a container and they are great for a week although don't last long in my house

Surely food bank is obvious answer?

Sewrainbow · 02/07/2020 19:40

Teddyisahe that's great idea, never thought of it! 🤦‍♀️

I bake mine for breakfast. I mix 60g oats with 75ml milk, vanilla extract and raisins and pop them in the oven for 25 mins. When they come out they're golden and crispy on top and chewy underneath. I eat them hot with yoghurt, berries and honey on top and, if I want a treat, I cook them with chocolate chips through as well. So good. Dreading going back to the office because I'll need to give them up and return to overnight oats.

Nicklebox · 03/07/2020 12:28

I would just return them

I volunteer at a Food Bank and we are inundated with porridge oats Grin actually had to write a carefully worded request asking people not to donate any more .... (same problem with baked beans and pasta).

Feed it to wildlife? Bird feeders, duck food, etc.

whattimeisitrightnow · 03/07/2020 12:43

Oat bread: oats, natural yoghurt and a bit of baking soda.
Or ducks!! They love a bit of oatmeal, as do I.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 03/07/2020 12:48

Apart from the above, I always add a couple of handfuls to bolognese sauce. After cooking you don't know it's there; it was a budget tip I learned at university but still do it.

vanillandhoney · 03/07/2020 12:48

I've just made banana flapjacks.

250g oats.
3 tablespoons of honey.
75g of unsalted butter.
200g of bananas.
1tsp of cinnamon.

Melt butter and honey together and then add the oats and cinnamon - stir until mixed. Add the mashed banana and stir until mixed thoroughly. Place into a baking tray and cook at gas mark 3 for 30 minutes.

I also added sliced bananas on top!

Gramgram · 03/07/2020 13:05

Make your own granola with them for breakfast.
