Bloody delivery drivers and over tired baby

I have my nephew who is 13 months, not a great sleeper at all. I've managed to get him down for a nap only for a delivery to arrive and she couldn't knock or ring the doorbell no she had to ding dong ding dong then bang on the door. It pisses me off when I don't have him here, he's now awake again.

How do you get an overtired baby to sleep who fights it. I may have to drive around for a while see if that works.

I have a lot of sympathy for you as I am regularly just getting the baby to sleep when the doorbell goes. To be fair though, the driver doesn’t know there is a sleeping baby there and they have really tight timelines to deliver stuff in.

Put a sign on the door saying sleeping baby and to knock gently. For the sleeping, long walk in the pram in fresh air does it for me. Otherwise, white noise, rocking, shushing, time in the sling all work

Yes, put a sign up. We've got one for deliveries after 7pm and everyone's been understanding of it, no wake-ups (from deliveries, at least Grin).

Sling/carrier is our go-to for forcing a nap into our overtired DD, even though she's a lump at 14 months and it's back-breaking, it guarantees sleep.

Vacuum cleaner going always worked for mine!

I wouldn't mind but we have a big parcel box so they don't have to knock! Anyway yes sign is a good idea thank you. No sling with me today unfortunately. I love him so much I do but I am so glad I didn't have my own!

Have you tried a white noise machine? My DD slept through all the smoke alarms blaring the other day with the white noise machine turned on.

If temperature is fine, not hungry, thirsty or in need of a change. Pop in the buggy and have a long walk. A bit of fresh air and change of scenery will do you both good.

I would try a walk in the pram. I feel your pain with the delivery person waking the baby. My daughter was woken many times with pounding on the door. I had to just ignore them a few times, as if I had opened the door the driver would have been met with abuse.

Dh came home sung him black velvet band and he's fallen asleep pretty quickly, just me that's crap getting him to sleep then Grin
