School year bubbles - wrap around care?

Sorry if there is already a thread about this but does anyone have any idea what the school year bubbles will mean for wrap around care, where pupils will generally mix across different classes?

I'm wondering this. My DD's are primary so will be in class bubbles, but this still doesnt explain how wraparound care can work as they all just mix in one hall?!

The guidance says they can mix bubbles if needed as long as it’s a “consistent group” - so I’d imagine that means no bobbing in and out day by day but booking in for a full week/term. I’m happy with that if it means they can run as it’s my biggest childcare worry right now.

I've just read through the guidance. What @GravityFalls said!

That is likely to be unaffordable to some part-time workers though. Not a perfect solution by any means.

Bubbles also hit upon support/ SEN interventions that mix cohorts either together or cross a member of staff.

The dyslexia intervention I ran too one or two children at a time so weren't directly mixing classes, but were using repeat equipment (can be wiped) and exposing me to multiple year groups. Personally, I'd rather do that and take the risk as these children are higher risk of having been left behind already. The emotional and social skills are cross-year too so not bubble-safe.

Year group bubbles aren't going to work. They are supposedly to be used in secondary where classroom bubbles aren't possible but in most secondary schools it will be impossible to keep year groups apart when moving around the school and teachers and support staff will have to work across all year groups. Yet another example of a policy written by people who know nothing about schools and haven't bothered to consult anyone in education.
They will just have to say we're forgetting social distancing if they're planning to get secondary schools back (which obviously they have to do).

Our school has said that they will not run breakfast or after school clubs until bubbles are permitted to mix. They are expecting that to be not until January 2021 at the earliest. It will be a big problem for us. No childminders are available either.

ComDummings · 02/07/2020 12:32

I think many school wraparound clubs will be scrapped to be honest.

Letseatgrandma · 02/07/2020 12:34

My school will not be running wraparound care in the Autumn term as the TAs are (were?!) both clinically vulnerable and have both resigned rather than come back so we have no staff to do it at the moment.

My head is dead set against it as it will break every bubble in the school.

Isn't that just a bigger bubble?

There is no way we could afford to send 2 DC to breakfast club and after-school club 5 days a week. They also wouldn't have the space for every child to attend everyday. We had to say inMay which days we wanted for after-school club.

Hang on, so will the existence of siblings across many different bubbles?!

lilliputstreet · 02/07/2020 16:39

I've had an email from the summer kids club my dd goes to and they've said we have to book minimum 3 days up front due to the new rules. They've said 5days in advance will be given preference too.
Annoying as I only need two days a week.
Not sure what will happen at school yet though.

littleducks · 02/07/2020 16:55

Wraparound care hasn't stopped here (I think it's keyworker only though) they do social distancing to some degree sat at different tables in hall by bubble like they do at lunch. Yoga on spaced mats and playing outside.

The summer club is open to all but capped numbers. They will be in new bubbles but with some staff movement between bubbles (something to do with ensuring enough first aiders was the explanation)

troppibambini · 02/07/2020 17:00

The Saturday evening before the y6, y1 and reception children were invited back to school parents received an email telling them as of Monday the wrap care at our school would no longer be available this was also the case for key worker children too. They just couldn't make it work following the guidelines.
