If your new neighbours built a brick shed against your shared fence, came onto your property without asking, removed the two concrete panels at the bottom of the shared fence and tanked the whole thing with plastic sheeting and and mastic?

It’s the fence along our driveway, which is how they’ve got access. So the bottom of our driveway now boasts a lot of plastic sheeting on my side of the fence. A bit like a DIY damp proofing project.

Who owns the fence?

CountessFrog · 01/07/2020 15:35

They do.

Though it’s now a fence with the bottom covered in unsightly plastic, which is on my side.

You can cut back the plastic that is on your boundary. You can't do more than that though.

I don't know if there's anything you can do about this given it's his fence. Could you get some pretty, large planters/pots to disguise it?

CountessFrog · 01/07/2020 15:53

The Fence sits in a concrete panel. They’ve recently added an extra concrete panel along the length of their back garden (which adjoins our driveway) and this has raised the fence height, which looks weird but doesn’t bother us.

So now along the bottom of each section of the fence there are two white concrete panels, so each is quite prominent. The area concerned has been covered in two sheets of plastic and stuck down with several rows of black and white mastick, so it’s very unsightly. It’s hard to disguise on our side because it’s directly behind the trunk of a large old tree, and the ground is uneven so pots wouldn’t stand up.

They’ve obviously been standing on our driveway working on it without even asking, it looks awful.

Can you upload a photo as I'm struggling to understand why it's so unsightly

BrieAndChilli · 01/07/2020 16:04

Can we have a photo as I’m trying to work out what you mean but can’t picture it?!

You could put something else in front of it on your side of the boundary butvunless their fence crosses your boundary there is little you can do.
