Why does this always mean "This fruit will go straight from rock-hard to mouldy without achieving softness or sweetness at any point" ?

Was it Asda peaches/nectarines?

BananaPop2020 · 01/07/2020 18:14

@FlamedToACrisp exactly this! I learnt the hard way with ‘ripen at home’ nectarines, there is normally a 3 second window when they are edible!

Katinski · 01/07/2020 18:50

A neighbour gifted me a container of 5 donut peaches from Morries 2 days ago.. I check them for ripeness whenenever I get up in the night for a pee. Not gonna miss that moment of Optimal RipenessGrin

Boing, boing, boing, splat.

Bananas go from green to black as well. I now fork out, resentfully, for the ripe and ready ones.

Pears, at least no one pretends that they have a ripe window longer than a millisecond...

Annoying

CrypticQueen · 01/07/2020 19:48

Avocados - rock hard ... rock hard ... rock hard ... brown Angry

frog22 · 01/07/2020 19:50

I bought Avocados recently that never ripened. I think I must have bought plastic ones lol

bitofasleuth · 01/07/2020 19:53

I reckon they pick them so long before they start to ripen that they haven't even finished growing properly, and will never ripen as they should. They just pick them too soon.

Haven't bought nectarines or peaches for years, it's a complete waste of time and money.
