Bedside crib choices

Hi everyone I'm new to the site and expecting my first child at the grand old age of 37 after a seven-year conception journey we have conceived naturally and are still in the bubble of happiness and joy at the moment! We are starting to look at some products and I would like to get a bedside crib which stands attached to our bed; can anyone recommend the top products or give me any advice and recommendations I would really appreciate it thank you very much x

If you have the space, I would really recommend a more full sized cot that you can use as long as you might need to. We got an IKEA one (whatever the cheap IKEA wooden cot is, with the bars, also converts to a day bed). Because it can be made into a day bed (for toddlers), it is meant to have one side come off.

We just build it to the height of our bed (so mattresses were flush with each other, stick rolled up towels down the side of mattress by the bars to push over mattress). This does require drilling an extra set of holes. Then you have a full size cot that gives you both lots of room, without a lip for baby to roll up again and push their face against, which is the case with a lot of the 'co-sleeper cots'. They also last as long as you need them. Our first used it for a year and we didn't use it as long with second (because we had a bigger family bed by then), but would have easily fit him at 1 year+. The co-sleeper cots are expensive and often outgrown by 4 months or so.

We did the same as mindutopia. DS grew out of his moses basket by 4 weeks old so we just built the cot next to the bed with one side missing. DH was planning to drill some extra holes into the frame to get the cot bed the right height but turns out it was perfect, and we cable-tied the frame to the frame of our bed so it couldn't move. Worked brilliantly and lasted for as long as we needed it!

We have a snuzpod and it's great. I particularly like that because the drop down side is fabric there is no lip between the baby's bed and ours, unlike with the chicco next to me, for example. DS is 19 weeks and although he is quite a long baby he is certainly not too big for it yet - I reckon we will get to at least 6 months. We bought it second hand and then bought a new mattress to fit, which saved us about £100.

We had a BabyBay with DS2. I loved it because it’s wooden so wipe-clean and adjustable to the height of any bed so was perfect for breastfeeding. You can also buy mattresses to fit it from Naturalmat and Little Green Sheep.

I did the same as pp for my first two- either a mattress next to our (low) bed or a cot attached to the bed.

For dc3 I invested in a babybay. Got the twin one to give us some extra space. She was in it until about 18mo, but she is quite small.

I know a very good portable crib. It has many functions and can be used as a cradle, a changing table, and a game room. It will not take up much space after being stored. If you are interested, you can learn more through this link: www.itemonsale.com/portable-baby-crib/

God what's with all the spamming?

We have a snuzpod but frankly your baby is unlikely to want to be put down when it is tiny so basically anything that you can put a cup of coffee and biscuits on...!
