Feeling stressed and overwhelmed

Hi everyone, reaching out before I hit a hard wall and looking for some advise and reassurance. We have finally moved houses with our 10 months old but we still have to pay rent on our previous property until someone moves in (tenancy ends in October). So we have the property for another 3 months. Financially, this is very difficult to do and we are just about keeping our head above water. We had to move as the previous property was in a bad way and tiny (studio flat). Paying rent on two places is hard and I am starting to get really stressed out about it.

Dh has gone back to work today after wfh for 12 weeks. It was really nice to just have him around but now he is gone, I’m suddenly alone in a new house with the baby while trying to figure out the impossible.

The flat is in a desirable location but due to everything, I think not many people are viewing. We had to pay a huge fee to the estate agents to put it onto the market but there seems little interest.

I do know that by October, things will be okay again as we won’t have to pay rent on two homes. So that money will go towards us and we can get back to where we was few months ago which was comfortable and we were content. We’ve reduced our spending to the absolute bare minimum to make ends meet. It’s just tough as I was really looking forward to moving here but now I just feel sad and overwhelmed.

Can you look at the contract again. Where I am a months notice is all that’s required by either party. Why do you have to pay estate agent fees?

@finfintytint Our tenancy ends in October and we were told we could only move out if we broke the contract early. This means we had to pay the EA a fee so they would put the property on the market for a new renter. For as long as the property is empty, we are liable for rent (until October). If a new person moves in, we won’t be liable for the rent anymore. They have said they’ve not had many viewings due to everything going on as usual the property is very popular because of the location.

Ah, ok. If there’s no way out then it’s a case of putting up with it but knowing it is short term thing and you’ll be significantly better off in October.
We’re also paying for the running of two houses at the moment, waiting on a sale to through. It’s frustrating and costly but there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Do you have access to any family childcare so you could work for a few hours to help with bills.
