What are your 8 yr old girls doing at the moment? Boredom & sadness has set in :(

My 8 yr old's mood has deteriorated so much the past couple of weeks. She's managed so well up until now and has kept herself busy with drawing, crafting, schoolwork, cycling and baking but is now absolutely fed up to the back teeth of it all.

I know things are opening up now but we actually don't know many people where we live to socialise with on walks or in gardens/parks.

I'd love to know how your 7-9 year old girls are spending their time? How's their mood? I have at least another 2+ months to bare the brunt of her moods and need some new ideas.

Forgot to say we got them some window pens - think £10 off amazon - which they have enjoyed drawing on the windows with. They rub off really easily and can also use on blackboards

My 7yo DS has become really emotional, he’s normally very level headed but he can’t seem to handle himself at the moment and is having lots of tantrums and is upset over the smallest of things. Both his older sisters are at school (one full time, one part time) so I think he’s struggling with that as well.

He’s doing less and less school work, is still doing drawings and playing in the garden, we go on bike rides but he mostly wants to watch Netflix or play on Roblox.

Photography challenges - we made them up I'm afraid. So far:

  • take ten photos from an unusual angle/distance and see if others can guess the item
  • take a daily photo of the sky so you can make a sky collage
  • find shapes in things around you that look like letters, and either spell your name or try a whole alphabet
  • freeze unusual things and photograph them in ice (flowers, fruit, Lego, buttons, seeds...)
  • using Lego figures, set up a series of photos to make a mini cartoon
  • if out on a walk, take camera and do scavenger hunt (find something blue, smooth, shiny, in the wrong place, fast, tiny etc)

Those sound great! Officially stealing them.

Great photography ideas! We did an “alphabet walk” very early on - find and photograph something beginning with every letter of the alphabet.
