Where have all the blue tits / robins gone (since May)?

At the start of lockdown we set up a bird feeder outside. It was a great success and we had blue tits, coal/great tits, robins, long tailed tits, blackbirds, wood pigeons, starlings and sparrows using it.

Then we had fledging starlings, blue tits, and long tailed tits using it.

However, for the past few weeks, all these birds have disappeared and the only (and I mean ONLY) birds using it are the sparrows. I haven’t seen any other breeds in my garden for ages.

Where on earth have all the other birds gone??

My Pheasants that come into my garden have disappeared they used to wait by the back door for their daily food!
I know (from past experience) they will suddenly appear very much later in the year always happens, makes me think its a combination of rearing families and their natural food being more readily available.

Where do the blue tit babies go when they fledge? We always have bluetits in a hole in a tree in our garden then they disappear when the babies fledge. Presumably they don't go elsewhere & make a new nest? Robins, blackbirds, magpies & red kites here mainly at the moment.

Probably in my garden :-D i get LOADS of them, have the fledglings too, so cute!
I do think starlings can sometimes scare them off as they bully smaller birds sometimes, i bought a cage for some of my feeders so the small birds have a safe space starling and pigeon free

Thanks to this thread I have just had a closer look at the 10 sparrows currently munching on the bird table/feeders, and I can confirm that in fact one of them is a brown robin! I would never have known! Smile

@Redcatbluecat, they sound like goldcrests, firecrests are much more orange headed, with a white stripe by their eye, both stunning if they stop still long enough to get a look.

The brown robins are juveniles, they don’t lose their red breasts.

Swallows were apparently hit by storms over Greece during migration which impacted on numbers this year but they are in a general decline due to insecticide use and global warming 😟

There's plenty of natural food around at the moment, so less reason to visit gardens (which are risky, with humans and cats). I don't tend to feed the birds between June and September.

Yes, I was just coming back to say I've read up on it now, and indeed it was a juvenile robin. Lovely Smile

Mrs blackbird has been sussing out the garden and bird table. I think she's settling in for a second brood. I do hope so.
