Barbie Chelsea or Barbie dolls?

For a 3.5 year old?

Want to get DD one or the other but unsure which one. I did buy the a Chelsea playset ages ago but DH has lost it somehow (this was before we gave it to her). I'm not sure which one is better for her age? She has a Lottie doll but doesn't really play with it but that could be because she only has one. So I'm debating between the Barbie teacher set or any of the Chelsea sets plus an extra doll. Which one is better for a 3.5 year old? TIA.

Chelsea is the little one isn't she? Personally I think a regular Barbie would be better because you can buy more bits to go with her - clothes, cars etc.

What about a Lottie doll? Soooo much nicer.

She has a lottie doll @PaintingPicture, the one with the yellow jacket and boots but she never bothers with it.

Lottie dolls are lovely but very expensive and not sold in many places.
Has she asked for a Barbie doll or played with a friends one? Maybe she just isn't that into dolls.

Ick. She hs three, get her a sticker book.

Only thing more cringe than barbies for a young child are baby dolls. I'd get it if she was like 8 and had an interest in fashion or something... but not at 3.

God forbid children want to do imaginative play that emulates caring scenarios and lets them make sense of the world around them Hmm

OP Chelseas are a better size to go along size a Lottie doll, Barbies are much taller. Maybe a Skipper, which are a bit shorter than Barbie. We got DD a Lottie when she was 3, and it was hardly touched until she had other dolls (Chelseas, incidentally, because she liked them) to play with too.

She doesnt even play with the doll she already has though! So it seems weird to buy ber another doll.

What about polly pockets or something similar instead?

thatselementary · 28/06/2020 15:35

@Bunnymumy DD loves baby dolls the most Grin I actually have one arriving today.

What about Princess dolls? My daughter has always loved Barbies (i have young sisters who are only a few years older than her) but she loved her Princess dolls more. Her favourite were the Frozen and Rapunzel ones.

If it has to be Barbie or Chelsea.. go Chelsea. Her playsets seem to be more centered around children. Unless it's a Barbie car because all kids love a car!
