I like Summerleaze with its seapool.
Kynance is my favourite though, it's truly magical.

SummerSazz · 26/06/2020 19:53

Sennen Cove is lovely but a long way!

AnyFucker · 26/06/2020 19:58

Sennen Cove

petalpower · 26/06/2020 19:59

Any of the beaches on the Isles of Scilly but especially Great Bay on St Martins.

Duchessofealing · 26/06/2020 20:02

Carbis Bay.

Bluebell1995 · 26/06/2020 20:02

We went to St Ives for the first time last year. Really loved Porthmeor for the waves, body boarding and sunsets. Loads of fun.

Carbis Bay, beautiful. I was surprised by how many different beaches we could walk to around St Ives, no wonder it's a popular place.

But I also like a quieter, calmer beach too. I can't really recommend any of those in Cornwall tho. I'd be interested to find them!

Flamingolingo · 26/06/2020 20:04

@Bluebell1995 if you liked Carbis Bay then go one beach further over to the east - Porthkidney. Will probably be almost empty, but no parking which is probably why. Can be accessed along coast path either from Carbis Bay or from Lelant

Poetryinaction · 26/06/2020 20:06

Oh yes, Gwithian too.

Lardlizard · 26/06/2020 20:06

Right so I fancy checking out at ives and porthcurno
So where would be a good hotel for a few nights Carbis bay hotel looks nice but I’ve not spent much time googling or would Penzance be a good base ?

Thank you @flamingolingo sounds right up our street. We generally don't like the hustle and bustle, but there's a reason St Ives is a busy place so I can forgive it 😊

We're going back next year hopefully, so would love to find a few hidden gems.

Flamingolingo · 26/06/2020 20:08

Carbis Bay hotel is £££ do you desperately need a hotel? Or would self catering suit? If it’s a hotel in St Ives I would check out the Harbour, it’s a lovely Victorian hotel with good views, and I’ve used the Harbour chain for corporate stuff and they’re very good. But again I expect £££

Checkthemeaning · 26/06/2020 20:08

I also recommend a visit to Lusty Glaze which has a beautiful bar/restaurant on the beach.

Flamingolingo · 26/06/2020 20:09

@Bluebell1995 no problem - it’s a reasonable walk though, from either direction, so do be prepared for that!

NotYourDawg · 26/06/2020 20:13

It's a while since I've been but I find Crackington Haven to be heaven on earth

thereinmadnesslies · 26/06/2020 20:15

I love Watergate Bay

Bluebell1995 · 26/06/2020 20:16

@lardlizard We stayed with Orange Roofs, they have loads of lovely self catering accommodation in the area. Seemed really knowledgeable as they're based in St Ives.

Aspect Holidays also seem to have a lot of accommodation to choose from in St Ives and throughout Cornwall.

mrsspooky · 26/06/2020 20:16

Chapel Porth was rammed today, I thought it would be ok as a week day but too busy to socially distance so I didnt stop but went elsewhere. It is already really busy!

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/06/2020 20:20

The secret nudist beach next to Porthcurno....quite a scramble down the cliff to get to it.

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/06/2020 20:21

this one

Xylophonics · 26/06/2020 20:23

Polzeath great but gets very busy.

Place marking for ideas..

Permanantlypuzzled · 26/06/2020 20:27

Harlyn Bay you’ll keep going back.

theluckiest · 26/06/2020 20:28

Oh all of these. Gorgeous.

Trebarwith Strand is fabulous (even though that tide comes in FAST!).

Love Summerleaze in Bude for a family bucket n spade day. Fabulous sea pool.

But my heart is for the Camel Estuary. Massive beach, bit of a trek from the bustle of Padstow but well worth it. Glorious. No matter how busy, it still feels fairly empty as it's so vast.

Sigh.

dorothysredshoes · 26/06/2020 20:29

Harlyn, Treyarnon near Padstow
St Ives beaches

whiteroseredrose · 26/06/2020 20:29

Porthtowan though not been there for a few years.

LadyFlumpalot · 26/06/2020 20:29

Sennen Cove. It's just... well, it's heaven. Picture taken in the winter.
